Has anyone got a stock Fd that has been on a Rolling road?
I saw the FDUK Shoot out but someone told me that it was inaccurate and some where wheel figures and some where Flywheel?
Cheers
Chris
Mine was a stock \'99 RB at the FDUK session at G-Force. Power should be 265bhp at the flywheel. G-Force measured 217.6bhp at the wheel. With an 18% transmission loss this gives 265.4bhp at the flywheel (divide by 0.82).
Assuming my car was performing as expected the G-Force RR seemed accurate that day although I am aware of one other session where they had serious problems.
Kevin
Did they tell you what boost you where Running? I ask as some Fd\'s dont run full Stock boost to start with so there figures will always be down.
Cheers
Chris
Funny you should ask about boost, a bit erratic At peak power it was 0.8 bar. Car had about 18,000 miles on it. G-Force supplied 3 graphs Power vs Boost, Power vs Lambda and Power vs Torque.
Kevin
To date i have only seen three genuine power outputs on stock FD\'s.
I know the Boost is supposed to Fluctuate as the second Turbo comes in but I have heard story\'s of stock FD\'s getting as little as 220bhp in stock form, this was put down to Cracked waste gates and Soft Actuators.
I am interested if due to the heat developed by the Fd there are allot of low hp Stock cars out there?
Chris
Mines going on the rollers in 3 weeks, a stock FD is coming along so I\'ll have some sort of comparison this time :) Will post up the results (assuming I make more than 230bhp this time ;) )
You are about right with 220 [rwhp] for a stock fd.......... G Force figures are regarded as accurate as you can get...if their figures are good enough for the British saloon car championship they are good enough for me!:p mind you they are all pub talk figures eh Fish:rollin :rollin :rollin
The numbers for stock/stockish cars were all pretty reasonable /consistent at G-Force from recollection - around the 210-230rwhp-bracket as JY says. Only one was well under, Dan\'s UK car that had a buggered turbo...
why are there 2 differnt measurements, at the wheel and flywheel?
what are the differences, my car was measured 341bhp, does this mean thats not its ture bhp?
cheers
Funny you should ask, mine is (pretty much) stock and I had it rolling roaded today.
Peak Power = 237.9 @ 6331 rpm (at the fly)
= 186.6 @ the wheels
Peak Torque = 209.2 lb/ft @ 5257rpm
Thats a 92 Type R, running on 97ron Super Unleaded, with a HKS panel filter, and a Mazdaspeed rear section
its a bit down on power, but i\'m assuming thats due to the fact its running on 97ron and not 100ron. I\'ll work out how to get the graphs up in a minute
Took mine today to be done, sucked big time, only managed around 255 bhp (or 214 at the wheels) but I put that down to the constant 87 degrees engine temp so my goofy toothed number plate is going off, the HKS induction is gonna be replaced now too and I was only running a flat 0.5 bar throughout the range *oops*
Time for some tuning me thinks when the new induction arrives :(
Matt, fly wheel bhp is the figure manufacturers quote for their cars. Wheel bhp is the amount of power that makes it to the tarmac, FDs are reputed to lose about 18% in transmission losses, so the wheel bhp will be approx 82% of the flywheel figure.
Dan, do you have a boost guage? I suspect given your lowish torque figure that you are not getting full boost.
Welsh Dan - is yours an auto that\'s a 21.5% transmission loss?
Kevin
No, mines a manual.
I have no boost gauge at the moment, but keep meaning to put one in. Also another guy put his on the rollers, and he has a HKS Super Drager Exhaust, Apexi filters and a otherwise standard engine, yet he had only 246bhp and slightly less torque.
Also, the gasket needs replacing between the manifold and the cat, so that would explain some loss of torque.
Hi Dan, where did you get it RR\'d? there doesn\'t seem to be any good rollers round here?
Dave :)
that was down Alan Jefferies, whose seemed to be ok on the day
Same rollers as Carburation Inj. tuning, the old SUN style ones, with a big dial on the wall, not sure if there at that accurate though.
Is there anywhere in Exeter with a decent computer linked RR?
Dave :)
