Title: low boost on second turbo
Post by: arrouk on May 06, 2006, 06:32:29 PM
hi guys,

I\'ve just finished the rats nest, all went well, reduced rats nest to simplified version (due to a nipple super glued on at least one of the solenoids).

car runs great, ticks over a bit lumpy but i was expecting that, full boost of .7 on first turbo a very quick and slight drop in boost at 4.5k and then .4 or .5 bar boost.

Ive had a quick look but i think ill be better looking tomorrow as my back hurts and i need a pint. ;)

my question is has any one a suggestion as to where to look for leek of fault as i don\'t want to just charge in and make matters worse.

just a thought but i had to remove the turbo control actuator to replace the pipes could that be my problem.

thanks
matt

If your running stock twins without mapping then there is a low boost dip just before the 2nd turbo i.e 4k...ish and then a big spike @ 4.5k to 5k where power usually jumps up from 190hp to 240hp ish

HTH

that\'s the problem i get a nice small dip and a small boost spike (0.5/6) and 4.5/5k all the way through to red line i get a whopping .4/.5 bar of boost.

but at least it changes now, before i started the rats nest i got .6 until change over and then .4    .3   .2   .1

i suppose it keeps me off the streets though.

I\'ve had a look tonight and i may have found the problem, on the full system the pressure chamber is fed from the y pipe, on the reduced system it is fed from the lim.

my problem is i only have 3 pipes on my lim but i have a capped on on the uim close to the throttle body, is this an acceptable substitute or is there another option.

i know there are people who have done this so advice from one or all of them would help.

Could somebody explain what \'pills\' are? Also whereabouts are they and how easy are they to buy/replace?

Just wondering as I have a pretty similar issue where the second turbo doesn\'t spool properly and tails off.

Cheers :)

sorry fats i haven\'t had chance to take the car out since.
probedb the pills are small plastic (i think) balls that restrict the pressure going to the waste gate and pre-spool actuators.
