:2eek :2eek .
Im now thinking of ways to make my bug quicker........ive got a few mods planned to the current engine, (carb exhaust etc) but seeing as ive got this 6 port 13b at the back of my garage in need of a rebuild (suspect oil seal) im thinking why the hell not rebuild this with some work?
SO........ My ultimate aims are for something streetable (anything up to a full bridge so im told?????), either using the auxillery ports or just removeing them completely, with a nice simple 48 sidedraft carby taking over the fuelling duties.
I would like around 200-250 BHP, but this isnt to be used every day so doesnt need decent fuel cons etc etc.....
What porting recommendations does anyone have? Should i try and locate 4 port side housings? I would like to keep cost right down.....
cheers for your help guys!

From what\'s been written many times peripheral porting gives some big power advantages as the cost of consumption and a little low rpm friendliness.
I guess Carl or one of the other engine builders would be able to give best advice for sure though.
You could also concider my RX8 engine for sale, already 200 bhp, and brand new, and costs as much as buying a second hand one and rebuilding it. Its a 4 port so once youve got fed up with n/a you could turbo it.

Yeah but the RX8 engine has more wiring coming out of it that a korean tv shop...
It\'s a pain in the arse putting an engine with a std ecu into a beetle... I did it once and never again...
If I did do it again it\'d be a standalone ECU...
Anyway your plan of a 48 side draft sounds like a good idea for more power but remember that ring and pinion :yes
Couple of things i\'d also suggest is that you get an intermediate mount for the gearbox because the nose cones tend to snap under hard launches, also get some uprated spring plates because the stock ones suck (that is if you don\'t already have them). If you want to go really extreme you could consider solid mounting the gearbox but it\'ll be a horrid ride (mine was)
Also once you kill the ring and pinion the case is useless.

i cant see a pic????
oK so sidedraft carb, decent exhaust, what port? remembering its a 6 port motr...
Steve
bloody big if you want 250bhp. Get grinding!
what sorta big? bridge? Periferal? What about templates? where to get em from?
Steveo
:god
TBH you may be as well going on one of the US Forums like Nopistons (it has a realy good engine Section) and reading some of the old threads on NA porting.
Judge Ito seems to be the source of most of that 6 port info, have you seen the motors where they have basically merged the 5th and 6th ports into one !
Yeh hes a Good chap to know.
His drag car is running over 300rwhp on a semi P/P NA engine without Nitrous :eek

sweet! PP rules!
doesnt quite have the brap brap of a bridge tho does it????
MMMMM The P/P will be worse than a Bridge for overlap (brap noise)
But what ITO has made is a std side port engine with an extra two P/P ports so he has lots of flow. I think he has the two P/P conected up to the Secondrys so he could in theory be shutting off the secondry Runners and using the stock Primarys for Idle??
BUT!!! This is the Guy who runs a Bridged Rx8 so anythings possable.
yeah, and has a 260rwhp 6 port 13b! hes a mentalist!
:rollin :Santa
Oops who knows what happened to the pic.....

mmmmmmmmm i want kirkey seats!
do you have any built boxes? ive already solid mounted the gearbox, but no ring and pinion mods, spring plate mods or intermediate mount....
Was thinking i could whip out the gearbox over this winter, but it\'d be cool if the box i build (i figure stock ratios with a dcent diff) to put straight back in beforehand.
