Title: Rust Cure
Post by: Alterboy on May 02, 2006, 04:48:37 PM
In the stripping down of the 1st gen, there are some inevitable spots of rust smiling happily at me...  What is the best way to handle these areas?  I know of rust cures, but what I was planning to do was the following:

1 - a good wire brushing to remove as much as possible.
2 - rust cure (a good brand??)
3 - a good batch of primer
4 - as part of the final tidying, applying a waxoil or similar coating to keep it as pristine as possible under the car.

and what should I do about area\'s that are enclosed / hard to reach??

Thanks for the help!

there isn\'t a cure for rust, the only method of getting rid of it properly is to cut back to good metal and weld in new. Sorry but anything else will come back (been there and tried it ) by all means treat the light surface stuff with a rust eater (I found jenolite and Por15 are very good) but there isn\'t a short cut to get rid of the real rot.
