Title: Engine is out
Post by: Tintin on April 29, 2006, 09:06:16 PM
Well I got the engine out today and got the block stripped down ready to take to Pip so he can migic it back into life , had a quick look at the rotors through the exhaust ports , front rotor is fine and dandy , rear rotor has 3 knackered apex seals   do you think one went and took the others out with it or is it possible to just do them all at once ??? I\'m guessing I might need a new housing now and possibly a new rotor  :( and the bad luck kepy coming , looks like the clutch is nearly shot and the turbos are showing some cracking around the manifold

So worst case scenario is new housing , new rotor , new clutch , new turbo , so any thoughts/ideas on the new clutch and new turbo ??? if I do end up with a new turbo I\'m after one thats going to give me some where in the region of about 450 RWBHP and obviosly a clutch to take that sort of power , unfortunatly money is going to an issue now so something may have to give   fingers crossed things aint as bad as I think

I\'ll update once I get some news off Pip and the turbos have been checked , could the cracks in the maifold be fixed ???

450 Rwhp is not easy........ especially on a budget.  That turbo set up may get in the region of 300 to 350 rwhp, it has quite a small hot side.  You would also need some large porting to see 450rwhp (550 flwp).  Lots of fuel, boost and cooling.  not sure what mods you have at the moment but you will need ecu, large exhaust, strong clutch, fuel pump/swirl pot, w/inj, large injectors etc etc etc

Fair point , looks like it aint going to happen as I am on limited funds at the mo , I\'ll just have to get as sood as I can , mind you I\'ll see if its viable to get a good base and build on that

One thing that did spring to mind about that turbo kit , would the manifold actually fit ??? as its an american supplier won\'t the steering rack get in the way ???
