Anyone know the best, and by best, I mean cheapest :) place to get the above from? Now that I\'m finally looking at putting a stereo in the car, there won\'t be a hole to rest it in anymore - not that I could exactly see what the readings were with it in there anyway :)
Cheers
rMagic holders look great, just look like part of the dash - but not cheap £50+ :o Newera and ReWorx do them I think. Before that I had a mobile phone holder - does the job but looks a bit messy.
I got a classy mobile phone holder for £2, same colour as the pfc and holds it very well. Can hardly even see the holder behind it! :cheers

Know where from and what type?
£50+ is what I\'d heard for the proper jobbies - a lot of money or a bit of plastic ;)
Was hoping someone would tell me so and so sells an imitation for £20 :)
I think I\'ll keep mine in the glove box. R-Magic holders are nice though.
I just made a holder for mine.It bolts onto one of the dash mountings under the gear box centre consol,so no drilling involved. One strip of sheet ali, some double sided velcro and a squirt of matt black spray paint. Sorted!! Can take some pics tomorrow and post them for you????
I keep mine in the glovebox as well. Don\'t want to give any little thieving gits an excuse to smash my windows.

Yeah, go for it if its no bother - thanks.
Good thing about the holder is I can take it out and put it in the glove box. More useful to be able to see it whilst driving to monitor water temp and such.

No worries.
I brought mine from The Range :Giggle
Come on, I live near Kidderminster, the home of the Chav :spank
I got an adjustable mobile holder from Halfrauds. Cost a couple of quid and does the job admirably/
Lately i\'ve been doing what somebody on here suggested which was to hang the PFC next to the cig lighter and console, amazingly holds the PFC just right dont fall or anything ???
Otherwise had a phone holder doing the job, only prob was everytime we hit some serious boost off fell the phone holder :rollin :rollin :rollin
I don\'t really like the Commander, so I figured I needed a way of plugging and unplugging it, so today,I fitted an extension cable for it.
Basically its just a keyboard/mouse extension cable that I\'ve put under the dash so now the port for plugging in the commander is just under the dimmer switch for the dials by the radio.
Generally, I just rest the Commander on the cigar lighter when I want to use it.
But I really like the R-Magic holder, it looks like it holds it in the perfect position, but what I want to know is if it will hold a Motorola Razr, its slightly larger than the bottom bit of the commander...
it would probsbly make it the world\'s most expensive mobile phone holder though... :)
Hi.
Sorry this is late, but been busy with other things until now. As you can see,it couldn\'t be simpler or cheaper. Involves no drilling into dash or unsightly phone holder. The metal strip can be angled directly at the driver. The unit can be taken off and put in the glove box out of sight when needed. The only mod you have to do is cut away some plastic on the underneath of the centre consol, where the strip goes through the gap,but that doesn\'t show.Hope this helps.
That looks great. Does it wobble or vibrate much? (kicking self for paying £50 for a b!oody holder now)

No vibration at all.The twists in the metal add rigidity. The only thing i might do is change the velcro for a type a bit tougher.
or you could do this commander holder (http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/momo.htm)
Very nice - if only I had paid more attention in metal work at school :)

Blimey Gerry that\'s a bit flash!!! Very tasty indeed!! What type of metal did you use? Is it polished alloy??
Its not mine wish it was, was thinking on getting the tinbasher at work to knock me up something similar in stainless. Looks just like polished alloy plate. wouldnt be too hard to knock up. Saying that thou a few scribes & couple of bends on the folder & i could do something similar, more used to knocking up metal cases for fag packets to stop them getting crushed in boilersuit pockets. I\'m just wondering if he brazed or glued them together as i see no pop rivets
Blimey, mines just stuck to the dash directly under my speedo covering it up passed 140mph. I use it more for speed too now and have injector duty, air and water temp displayed. Nice clear spot to look at and makes the info easy to see. Just 2 peices of velcro holding it in position.
Just out of interest why bung it in the middle of the car, makes it hard to get quick reference ???
Shaun
That looks pretty cool, although not really a big fan because you have to turn your head slightly to see it.
Also the Apexi one is a ridiculous price for just a bracket !!!!
I have mine in the gap between the cigarette lighter and console, its easy to see and doesnt spoil the dash and make it look too cluttered. When parked I have one of those steering locks that covers the steering wheel and it hides the PFC too.
Just my 2pence worth
another way to mount as found on rx7club.com here (http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=377345&highlight=commander+holder)

Nice find Gerry,what\'s he using as the plug?? Looks like plumbing kit?
1/2 inch plumbing connector I think, lose use of lighter socket thou so any radar detectors etc would prob need hard wired.

Hi Shaun.
I didn\'t want to clutter the dash up,so it seemed the only place without cutting or drilling.Like the idea the lad in the USA had come up with, but you do loose the use of the lighter for phone charger etc etc.
I can understand about the clutter :p
I\'ve taken a photo of the position i\'ve got it :

Hi Shaun
It\'s all down to taste i suppose.I really don\'t mind glancing away to look at the commander. If i had it up there i\'d spend more time checking the temp gauges rather than the road!! :rollin Dangerous, especially at the speeds we travel at :Giggle
lol, too true. You do seem to keep an eye on the air temps more :p
