is it a left hand thread ? im sure the last owner has welded it on lol. Ive had a breaker bar with an extension on and i still cant shift it. Any ideas.
No left hand threads on the 13B.....beat it off if it dont budge.. :Hammer :2eek
is this the big flywheel bolt thing about 54/56mm. If so they are torqued up to around 300 lbs/ft and sometimes very very hard to get off. Might need some wheetabix ;)
its the 19mm one at the front. thank god for that thought i might have been making it tighter lol. cheers for the help. lump hammer time :D
Quoteits the 19mm one at the front
I was way off, lol :Laugh
The key to undoing it is to not allow the engine to rock. Any movement will sap the power, brace the engine well and it will come.

Took 2 of us to get it off - with a breaker bar and an extension to it! :o

????????????????????.....thats way over the top.... :Hammer :2eek :Typing ...tight....thats what you call FT torque setting. :wiggle
Damn right! You\'re telling me. It looked to be a very old engine - 4 bolts sheared. The water pump housing is junk because it corroded to one of the studs, so I had to prize it away from the engine using tough screw drivers and then hacksaw the base of the stud off! What a nightmare!
The power steering nut is still being a pain and locked to the power steering pump! Haven\'t quite figured out how I\'m going to get that off - mole grips and a 3 foot breaker bar have not succeeded!
blimey, you had trouble with the pulley nut?! wait till you turn the block around and have a crack at the 54mm monster on the back!
have heard of two grown men being lifted off the floor on the end of some serious leverage and still no movement!
Best of luck though. :)
Sorry - i possibly wasn\'t clear enough - that was for the 54mm nut on the flywheel. It wasn\'t that hard! :p :)
She\'s all dismantled now. Just sorting everything to get her back together now!
I put a bit of heat on the nut with a blow torch and it cranked undone ok if thats any help.
still havent done it yet. may have to use the vice. I had a two foot breaker bar on it yesterday with a two foot extension on it. my girlfriend and I had all our weight stood on the bar hitting it with a hammer. It just bent my best fattest screw driver :Grrr its bent bars and all sorts. i\'ll get the torch on it see if its gives.
we had to fasten the block down to the bench to get both nuts of, you need a strong t bar and some thick wall thickness tube as long as possible for leverage ie 4 or 5 feet long tube will **** it with one hand mate.
did the flywheel one with a bar bolted across two clutch bolts and it came off pretty easilly ... the front pulley one one was a complete pain though (mostly because I had removed half the engine 1st ... who doesn\'t read instructions before taking stuff to buts eh ;) ) Had to wait until I brought my electric rattle gun to the garage to fetch it off (ace tools)
