I want to know the value of the two marks on the 12a front pulley, I have timing figures of 5deg leading and 20 deg trailing for the engine to be set at, does this sound ok for a turbo charged 12a??? Is the first mark tdc or 5 deg. and is the second mark 20deg.. My engine does seem to run out of power at over 4500-5ooo rpm and even less as the revs get over 6000 rpm, it acts very similar to a td engines drop off in power at high revs...but when on boost around 2400 to 4500 pull like a train in any gear.
im after the fiqures for a 13b (series 1 mark 3 gsl-se engine)
has anyone tried this on theres?

no idea on the timing ... but the elfords have quite small turbos so could the power drop off be normal ?
Yes that was what i thought and maybe that is how they are, I am trying to find a decent boost gauge up to about 10 psi with a large scale as it only should run at about 5 to 6 psi ,but all the gauges i can find are at 30psi so 5psi would hardly show. I have also bought a few road test reports on the car and there is no mention of it in there, and it is quite a noticeable power drop and from 6000 to 7000 it really does struggle, in fact when over taking it is very anoying at times in lower gears with absolutly no point getting anyway near 5000 rpm!! on the other hand in top gear from 2500-4500 it goes like stink.. It would be good to have some firm timing figures and advance figures for the turbo ignition if anyone has the info?
a timing advance light is on its way so we should be spinning nicely by next week might try the link posted above and set the timing at there surgestion
will let you know how it goes

Is it a standard system you are running...i.e.original elford system, motor ported, did you do static timimg at first etc ?????
The car is standard elford turbo, no porting, I set the engine up before starting it with the first mark when rotating clockwise on the front pulley and the marks alined on the distributor, and marked the upper half as well so I could check after the gear had engaged at the bottom of the distributor. After replacing the leads, cap, coils, plugs, I then set the timing at 5deg and 20 deg( well I think that is what it is as I just lined the first mark on leading and the second mark on trailing I would like to know where tdc is to be certain). I also checked the 0.5 psi pressure switch to make sure the vac advance was disconected after that boost pressure, But that would only be affective with light throttle openings, I am not sure what advance I should get at different engine speed?? if any?? I hope that helps a little.
