hi anyone have any ideas why i cannot get my 92 type r to fire up .she has been left for a week without being driven went to start her last night and she turns over but wont fire up. just tryed again but pressed the accelerater down to the floor and she was very very close to firing but the battery went dead im hoping its something simple and not rebuild time as she will have to come off the road as just lost my job and about to become a dad for the first time :xconfused
I had this last year - spent ages trying all the suggested methods - probably reduced the life of my starter by 50%!!
My advice - get a tow start. Couldnt believe how easily it started after that. 20mph, second gear and bingo. It burns any excess fuel from the plugs then fires up
as above, it sounds like it may be flooded, you need a really good battery so if you can get it towed its the easiest option, you shouldnt have to go to far.
Yup, flooded. Whatever method works best for you - tow start will help save the battery and starter.
thanks guys feel a little easier that you dont think its rebuild time .just gonna have to talk my gf into giving me a tow
Shame your not nearer to me, i\'d of given you \'drag\' in me diesel :)
yeah bit far to travell to give me a tow :rollin
thanks again for the advice my own fault really had the car 3 years now and never had a problem so never done any research on common problems
sounds flooded to me! If it is still struggling after a tow, you\'ll need to go through the un-flood procedure:
remove fuse for fuel pump (or in the FC\'s case - disconnect the fuel pump)
remove plugs, clean and heat
turn over without plugs in - spits all the excess fuel out of the plug holes (don\'t smoke while doing this ;) )
put warmed plugs back in
reconnect fuel pump
start car!
i think its the fuel pump fuse gone
that would be a easy one to check where is the fuse ?
It\'s more likely to be flooded. It\'s very common on rotaries.
thanks for all the help guys charged the battery taken out the fuse for the fuel pump cranked it over for 15 secs replaced fuse turned ignition after about 30 40 secs and a lot of smoke she fired. let her warm up took for a quick spin let her cool down and started again and fired first time so happy now :) .once again can not say a big enouth thankyou for your help guys .
Classic flood. To stop that from happening in the future, don\'t switch her off until she\'s warmed up a bit.
that\'s nice ur rx get started. i just finished my exams.... so sad have lots of things dun understand
