Title: Type R Engine differences
Post by: fraser on April 25, 2006, 01:52:38 PM
Hi all,

What is unique about the FD3S type R engines?  I have an R with a blown engine and want to replace it and I need to know if anything is different internally with the short block of a non R RX7 FD3S.  I know the ECU is different and that I have twin oil coolers but can I put a non-type R engine in to replace the broken one?
My plan is to run with the replacement engine whilst I rebuild my current engine so I\'m not too worried if I\'m a bit down on power, but do I need to swap in the donor cars ECU?

Regards

Fraser

the short block itself has no differences AFAIK
