Title: other cars on your drive?
Post by: allanayling on April 25, 2006, 08:17:34 AM
i was just wondering how many of you use your cars as everyday runabouts? for those who have them as second cars i was just wondering what people used as their everyday hacks???

I bought mine as a second car as my aston martin lagonda is not very practical. I also have a merccedes cl500 but since getting the Fd i havnt turned the key in either, i think selling without buying another would be worse than giving up smoking. definately an addictive car and the best fun ive had, especially in the wet! cant wait till i have a few mods and i try my first track day.

Aston Martin??  You pulling our plonkers!?  :Tongue1

I have a 406 coupe diesel as a second car.  But I do a lot of miles for work so couldnt use the Rex.  The 406 is ok too, full heated leather electric seats with memory position (great for when the missus drives it and moves the seats around)  It even remembers the mirror positions   :cheers    Factory fit Sat Nav and loads of other toys.  Its got a 2.2 turbo so quite torquey too, but I still get 50mpg  :guinness

I think using the FD as a second car makes you appreciate it more.  I really look forward to getting home and driving it, the speed, the noise.... well its always a novelty as I drive a normal car during the day.

I respect anyone who has the guts to own a Lagonda! Definatly the oddest car to have ever come out of Newport Pagnell!

I have a Puma as my daily driver (not quite in the same league)

Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Sportwagon and Toyota RAV4 XT5 (for the school run :) ).

Get 40mpg out of the Alfa and good mid-range performance...very relaxed at motorway speeds. Toyota suprisingly enjoyable and relaxing to drive - got all the toys -heated seats, sat nav etc - good all round family car.

Good thread!  There\'s way too much money out there tho!

Unfortunately i\'m lumbered with a black Golf Mk4 GTTDI as the work horse.  Hopefully getting upgrated to something else this year (as two and a bit years old).  Looking for a Seat Leon Cupra.

I use the \'7 as my weekend car.  I was running 3 three cars and using my Rover 221 Turbo hatch for the 1/4 mile.  However she had to be broken few months back after loosing the full transmission at TOTB.

Fancy another cheap track car and have been looking at a MK 2 XR2 Turbo!

Living with my bro and a friend in a shared house at the moment (when i\'m there that is!) and between us we have 4 cars.  The other two are a black S-Special MX5 and an Alfa 156.

Non RX pics below:

Pump up the Yaris... its called Echo in Australia.

:(

But its good for saving on gas and insurance.

I put on 17\'s that have zero grip. Every time it rains. its handbrake drift time..... haha>!

Soon another FD will replace.

I had to resist tuning this beast. So i will just settle for photoshop.

i use the 7 as my daily, but our other household cars are:

when at home:
toyota carina e & toyota avensis (and no, my parents don\'t run a cab firm :p)

when at uni:
fiat punto

i used to have a peugeot 106 rallye a couple of cars before the rex, and would love to get another as a second car but i already pay a fortune for insurance so can\'t really justify spending more to add another car :\\

wow, most of you guys have such nice cars as your runnerounds.  I have a honda civic 1.5ls at the moment, but i gotta sell it soon to fund the rex when it is finished.  I will then buy a £500 runneround car in order to carry more then 2 poeple lol.  Iam the only person driving in the house hence that choice, otherwise i would drive the rex only.

Couldnt afford more then £500 as a runneround as iam only 21.

I\'ve got my stealth[1] Range Rover Classic with LPG conversion (so fuel costs are pretty much on par with the RX :eek) for those Farmer Palmer moments and a seriously old skool, bog-standard, original low mileage VW Jetta GTI which I use as a runabout at the moment. The Jetta\'s too nice for that tho\' so it\'s got to go.

Oh, and a garage full of motorbikes in various states of disrepair, ranging from very nice to "in bits". Bikes are actually my main transport thanks to 120 mile round trip to work.

[1] Some cow actually pulled a "sorry mate didn\'t see you" on me in the local Tescos carpark. I mean, how effing hard is it to overlook a Range Rover?

i have the rex to look at and drive now and then
i have a 98 megane 1.6 for everyday use and for work believe it or not its quite a nice drive.
we also have a 05 clio 1.2 campus also quite nice my partner uses that one,

the micra has about 130,000 on the clock and still going strong looks a bit seedy though

Have had a few run abouts since owning the rex. Most have been fiestas, another of which will be going to the great scrap yard in the sky in a week or so. :)
Got myself a 1.3 escort coming soon. Lovely car. ;)
Dont think it deserves a picture though as we all know what they look like. I\'ll just say its white with just a small hint of rust, but who cares when your doing 30+ mpg and you have the rex waiting for you at home to give you its unconditional love :p

So just my mum\'s 2005 Corsa 1.2 SXi....actually not a bad little car, handling is much better than their old Rover 200 which is a good thing cos I try and drive it like the RX ;) Nippy to about 30mph then it\'s sooooooo slow, takes an age to get to 70.

thats a good idea i should take a pic when all the cars are home.

In our stable at the moment we have -

my FD - currently at the body shop - been using it to get to work in for the last few weeks, but im going to retire it to using it only on the weekends soon

my FC cabrio- im still doing the finishing touches to it. then im going to have a bit of fun and sell it on.

2001 Audi A6 V6 TDI estate - me dads car - its a right beast! esp. on the motorway.

i got an 94 vauxhall cavalier TD coming shortly - got given it for free by my little brother. hes upgraded his daily hack to a nice bmw 320I coupe.
