Afternoon,
I seem to be having a bit of a problem when accelerating hard in the Rex. Symptoms as follows:
1. Accelerating in 1st and 2nd is OK
2. Change to 3rd and the sucking noise through the air filters starts to stutter
3. Change to 4th stutter noise continues and car bogs down as though accelerating through treacle (can\'t think of a better way to describe it - sorry)
4. Change from 4th to 5th there is a really strange noise that sounds a bit like a sonar and the bogged down feeling continues. This I reckon is air escaping from somewhere.
5. I can then drop it down and accelerate again and it\'s fine
Anyone got any ideas - I haven\'t got a boost guage so I can\'t give any boost figures unfortunately...
Cheers
DC
Is it a twin turbo, have you checked the plugs?
What mods have you got...??? Fit a Boost guage as soon as possible..It will help you keep an eye on day to day running and help diagnose some problems that may occur..Im sure others will agree that having a boost guage in the rex is very important.. :)
Yes sorry - mods would help...

Apexi ECU

Not really much help, more of a thread hijack.
I get the "sonar" sound that you\'re on about, too. Sometimes on acceleration the boost sticks at anything between .10 and .30 and stays there till I let off the gas, then the sound comes & when I accellerate, boost will rise normally again!

No Probs
What you describe is pretty much what happens - I can\'t see the boost readings though so that\'s helpful - it happens between 0.1 and 0.3 bar...
