Guys, newbie question here - if induction kits and an aftermarket exhaust have been added to a 3rd gen RX-&, should an aftermarket ECU be used to alter the air/fuel ration accordingly? On a standard ECU you should be ok for an aftermarket air filter and Cat back Exhaust thats about the limit..You really would have to have an Apexi pfc or other ecu if you decide to do more mods.Also check the boost pattern 10-8-10..If its got a full exhaust (de-cat,downpipe) then it really needs the standard ecu to be changed.. :Talking1
Thanks ftorex, in the event that its a full decat system and on the standard ECU, what potentially could go wrong? Ideally, I would prefer to pick up an unmodified machine but theres no harm in checking out as many models as possible, as I\'m sure you\'re aware, theres not a whole load of RX7s knocking around Ireland.
OT, but do you also drive an FTO perchance? My daily driver is an FTO GPX, the rex will be taken out for weekend fun!

If its still has a standard ecu with full exhaust and airfilter then it could already be damaging the engine..On a full exhaust with aftermarket airfilter the Rx is very freeflowing..the standard ecu cant cope with these mods and doesnt add enough fuel which will cause detonation.In a rotary as everyone will tell you its a Big problem.. :Nono! Upping the boost is also a problem if you dont get the Rx remapped to cope with this too..Basically if you want to do anymore than fit an air filter and cat back then get an Apexi (most peoples choice) or equivalent Ecu and get the car mapped for the mods..
Yes i used to drive an FTO GPX...Fantastic to drive and looked great..But you just cant compare the power of the RX to it..Its unbelievable.. :Giggle
Hi there, i have a cosmo with a 13b engine installed, been looking at an RX7 hks induction kit with pipes, will this fit directly or do i need custom pipes for the filter?
