Title: weird boost
Post by: Fats on April 21, 2006, 10:09:16 AM
since fitting my boost gauge ive noticed that from cold it will only boost to 0.5 of a bar which is under standable untill it warms up, but after a good drive if i switch off and leave for around 5 mins, start up a drive again it wont boost past 0.5 for about a couple of minutes, the engine is at operating temp! when it boost\'s fine i get 0.7 from the primary turbo and 0.6 from the secondary. would this be normal?

would you suggest fitting a boost controller?

Not unless you want up the boost, sounds like a duff relay / rats nest issue

if i fitted the controller i would be taking away the ecu\'s control over the wastegate, so if i set the controller at say 10psi and road tested, if 10 psi was present when boosing either a problem as you say with either a duff solenoid or rats nest pipe, or could just be a weak wastegate spring, what sort of boost would you normally see?

Stock 10 -8 -10psi if you do not have a stock boost patern you will be wasting your time fitting the controller untill you have rectified the poor boost.

car\'nt understand why my primary boost is good reaching 0.7-0.8 of a bar and secondary is so ****e!!! it just hovers around 0.6-0.7. o well i\'ll check all the vac pipe\'s later,

Cheers

My seconday is off just like yours (see the boost pattern here http://www.flickr.com/photos/38372918@N00/132925906/ ).

I\'m waiting till I pull the engine out in Sept before I do anything as at least I can see what\'s going on then.
