Is this question relating to the paperwork?
If so I\'d be sure to get a copy of the deregistration document - certificate of cancelled registration. Must admit I didn\'t pay much attention to the rest of the paperwork with mine :o but I\'m sure those that do it for a living will be able to give better advice.
I registered my first one. You need:
Japanese De-registration douments. Two copies, one in English one in Jap.
Customs clearance document
You will also need an MOT, though I dont remember the Ebay ad saying it had one. Insurance too, but you can get that after you have the car.
Edit - will need to pass the SVA test too
Cheers

I may be wrong but I don\'t think you can drive the car on the roads without trade plates (as I\'m assuming it\'s currently unregistered inthe UK).
Iain
I rang the 5 0 Shop this morning, they say it is legal to drive the car with its origanal plates on for a set time (the guy thought it was Two weeks) as long as its Tax\'d/Trade plated up and Insured, Mot\'d etc.
You also can\'t drive a car on Trade plates other than from your place of Busness to a set place (Owners home address or MOT station) and Vise versa, it also must be expected.
I did inquire about passing the SVA but they could\'nt help.
Does anyone know what year cats are required? and if there is any changes that need to be made to pass the test with a Jap import?
Cheers
Chris
hi chris well i got the car i hired a trailer and it is in mint conidtion its didnt smoke at all it drives superb but it need the conversion done as in japan they cant go above 117 miles hour the guy seemed alright he said if i didnt want it dont buy it he gave me 2-3 times to say no he also said if your not happy with it not to buy it, i rang to get the sva test sorted they are sending me form in the post i got all the relevant papers i need i got a vap and english thing and also the shipping one.
i really like the car do you know if my steering wheel will fit my 3rd gen i bought a boss for my turbo2 car and i was wondering if it will fit new car.
What Grade was the car on the Auction report?
Did you ask why he did\'nt get it SVA tested and sell it for more?
I am not sure if the T2 and FD Bosses are the Same? The best thing to do is go back to the shop you bought it from and say they have given you a Second Gen Turbo Boss insted of a Third Gen Turbo Boss (Easy mistake to make?) and see if the go for it?
I still dont belive you bought the car without getting it looked over by Somone that knows about Third Gens (Like Pip), You should know by now that buying an Rx7 is a mine field. Its easy to get Burnt if you have never driven/Owned an FD especaly when an Engine Build costs around 3k and things like water seals dont show up until you drive them?
Chris
we found out afterwards it wasnt bought from a auction it was bought from a dealer in japan but it is looks like a grade 4 ive been told,he just wanted to get shut of his cars he had left out the business there was a guy before us who ordered the car and gave him £1000 deposit because it took 9 weeks to come the guys finance had changed and he then said he didnt want it so thats we he just stick it on ebay well the way i see it if i get 12 month to 18 months a will be happy i only use my car at weekends so i should get that long then i will save up from now til then and get a rebuild done anyway the way i see it i still got a cheap car.
ive been looking around and most of the cars are going for £7000 with 50-60 miles on it so i saved a few grand there so that will go to my rebuild
i have just bought a 3rd gen and its been imported i have not done he sva yest but was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a chip from to make it into miles an hour insted of kilometers
I get the Impresion you have not looked into this at all and just Impulse bought a Car.
The reason people like to buy cars from Auctions is becouse they have a good idea what there buying, the Condition and Milage. I would be carfull if the car did\'nt come with one as how do you know if its not been clocked etc?
Do you have any idea what you need for the SVA?
Do you not need to replace the Clocks to convert it from KPH to MPH?
I sugest you ring Pip on Monday and ask what is needed and how much it will cost to do?
If you get away with this you are a very lucky person, i dont know anyone that has bought a 5K car off a Picture from somone they have never met before without a second party report or somone they realy trust seeing it first? Do you?
Chris
i know you dont have to but the car is restricted speed on it as japan only go 112 mph and yes i know what a sva is for its like a mot but firmer i was told
I sugest you do a good search there is plenty on the subject on here if you dont find it i know there has been alot said on FDUK.
Chris

Sophie, Try Import Solutions on 02380 22 69 50 for the km to MPH
conversion box. They are in Southampton but will also do mail order. costs about £40. converts KM to MPH so instead of being restricted at 180km it is now restricted at 180 MPH.
You need to get someone to fit it - most car electricians/ alarm fitters can fit the kit. For the SVA, you will need to \'blacken\' out the \'K\' in KMH so that it reads \'MH\' on your speedo. Whoever, fits the converter should also do this as the whole spedo cluster needs to come of to get it fitted anyway.
Whereabout are you? - if you are near southampton I know someone that can do the job.

if an import is restricted, how and how much does it cost to get d re-stricted
Just answered my own question by reading the other threads, does anyone know how much the installation fee of the conversion box is.
its costsing me about £25 plus vat just asking auto electrian its about 1 hours job
Its not a very hard job to do. Trickiest bit being removing and replacing the clock pod from the dash without busting any clips.
does anyone know were i can buy a rear fog light for my mazda rx7 its for the sva test
Halfords....
A lot of importers use one of the reversing lights

This way looks much better (IMHO) than having a dangly light off the back of the car. Makes things look much more professional and ploished.
Only downside is the lack of brightness produced by the 1 remaining reversing light!
Iain
Dont they have to be bigger/lower/higher/brighter or some thing(!) for the SVA? Hence all the big horrid things bolted to the rear rubber valance you see about?
Not sure but mine got through fine (I assume it did as it\'s registered and mot\'d) and it\'s not got a dangly...
Iain
But what often happens is that the ugly dangly one is put on for the sva, then often dissapears by the time the end consumer gets the car!
Im my case I have what amounts to no more than a marker light. Passes MOT OK. SVA would fail it for sure.

just had the mot test done it passed everything apart from the immsions the co test read 5.4 and the lander sensor was 1.4 he told us to go for a good ride in it so we did, came back tried it again and co test read 0.19 so that was fine but 1.4 on the lander it needs to be 1.03 or something like that so he did the computer reading on it and the co test came out at 4.8, i am fed up with it he mentioned that the lander sensor on it might be nackered but had a word with pip and he thinks it could be fuel in oil or air pump not running correctly but i need to sort this out before tuesday as the sva test is then anyone shed any light as to what it could be, there is a massive exshaust on it the mot station thinks it could be drawing air into it
