Title: Rachaels stunning FD RX7/8
Post by: Norton on April 19, 2006, 02:02:41 AM
I think its about time this was posted in the FD section where everyone will see it... credit where due n\' all that...
Quote from: RachaelMy other half built the front end, well he did it all apart from trimming the seats really. We used the RX8 bonnet, wings and bumper. The 8 wings were too short so he had to use the first 2-3 inches of the RX7 wing and weld them to the new 8 wings. There are progress pics on his website //www.revivalstyling.co.uk go into project cars under RX7, you can see the before and during the build pics. As for the idea, our friend Shaq (also an MRC Member) showed us a picture of one at a Japanese car show. I was a bit unsure at first as I love the 7 front, especially the bonnet, but they both convinced me and now I\'m glad they did!

Definately not the most flattering! Not bored really, just a bit tired that morning. We\'d been rushing all week to get the car done and were both knackered.

Excellent work Racheal. I saw your car first on another forum quickly and thought it was an 8, only when i saw this thread did i realise it was a 7 and the work that must have gone into it. :)
Top job, although, not really the colour scheme i\'d of gone for :p

I must say I hadn\'t seen it before...
Good to get it out of the Members section.

There is only one other I know of. the Purple BN Sports Car.
they look good. But i think some wide rear fenders in a similar style would suit

I\'ll scan a pic if you havent seen it.

It certainly is a great looking car.. Alex and myself were lucky enough to bump in to Rachel and her fella by the autoglym stand, while we were perusing the fine lines and detailing that had gone into this build.

We had a good long chat and discussed Rotorstock, Rachel seemed to think we may be a little "Clicke" (sp) at the camping, but i assured her that was not the case and everyone just has lots of fun fun fun.....  :Party

Once again i doff my cap to all the hard work, blood, sweat and RX8 that has gone to make this a truly stunning example!! :D

Rachael your car is certainly a talking point on the RX-8 OC! We are loving it except the boys aren\'t keen on the pink (there\'s a surprise!

It\'s a very impressive project - you seem to have the best of both cars IMHO. Are you bringing it to Rotorstock? I\'d love to have a closer look.

Hi again,

I see you\'ve found it - when I re-read some of the comments (including my own) I wasn\'t sure if you\'d be offended. But as I said a lot of 8 owners are VERY conservative - even my alloys are too much for most

You watch all the boys suddenly turn very nice now you\'ve posted.  ;)

But the question is which forum do you now post in - RX-8 or RX-7?  :Giggle

Looking forward to meeting you at Rotorstock in my very plain 8.

No of course not, at the end of the day, I think my car looks the nuts but then I had it made how I wanted it....

Have you been on the American RX8 owners club? //www.rx8web.com

You are so right - and it\'s always good to be different.

Yes I have been over on the \'dark side\'. So I\'ve well and truly been photocropped!  :2eek  Some of those guys have way too much time on their hands.  :D

We did have a couple of American\'s over on the OC and they couldn\'t believe how un-customed so many of our 8\'s are.

Yes I\'m at Rotorstock both days - James (BlueAdept) has talked me into camping - not done that since the Girl Guides. My friend Sue who also has an 8 will be with me so us females will have to stick together!  :Giggle

Saw this beastie at the Redline rumble last sunday, really took me by surprise!! I saw it from the back (after having a look at the RE Amemiya kitted FD and a lovely black pre-facelift one) and immediately fell for the twin exhaust set up, never seen it before and it looks fantastic. Symmetry is very important especially when you consider how the rest of the FD has been built with perfect aesthetics in mind. I also really liked the rear lights, subtle but effective.

Really liked the rear bumper/diffuser too. I was expecting a C-West front end (don\'t know why really, just imagined it!) so i was shocked to say the least when i found myself looking at an SE3P front!!! A few seconds of confusion followed, until the penny dropped and i realised that yes, someone actually had the time, money and guts to transplant an RX-8 front onto an RX-7!!

The craftsmanship looked superb, and i actually liked the colour scheme, suits the slightly ostentatious nature of the car well.

Being honest i have to admit i do prefer the FD front to that of the RX-8, but it\'s all subjective i guess! Be dull if everyone had the same likes and dislikes. The only thing i felt was that the FD is a smooth and svelte shaped car, whereas the RX-8, especially at the front, was a bit bulbous and pumped up. I reckon if you could perhaps increase the rear arches in proportion to the front it would create a much more cohesive shape.

Regardless, it\'s a great achievement and a completely unique car. Definitely something to be very proud of. Congratulations. :wiggle
