Title: Oil leak, Identification request.....
Post by: Red and Single on April 18, 2006, 09:28:56 PM
I have a very small but none the less worrying oil leak. :Grrr

It appears to be coming from a small box around 30mm square with 4 screws holding it on, it has a solenoid (i think) on it and I\'m guessing it is the oil metering pump ??

It is located on the front of the engine block on the near the offside edge  about an inch or so above the sump.

If it is what I presume it is, then is it leaking V bad news, should I be thinking premix to be safe till I can sort it ??

Is this unheard of or common as muck ??

All and any help very much appreciated :chat

Where abouts on the OMP is it coming from? if its around the base then you can replace the rubber O ring but if its the Unit it may have to be replaced.

Yes if you suspect the OMP of foul Play put the correct amount of Synthetic 2 stroke oil in the Fuel, If you do it this way you stand less chance of causing damage. if you use Synthetic it will not reduce the Octain like std 2 stroke oil (not like its a lot anyway :))
