I went in a local chaps motor a couple of days ago, (thanks Welsh Dan :) ) which was of course a pleasure, his car beeped at him towards the end of the rev rnage to indicate "change gear now" do all RX7\'s do this?
Cheers
Dave :)
yes I believe they should do unless someone has disabled it.
Cool, thanks mate :)
what is it set to?
Dave :)
The rotary has had the buzzer since the very beginning - right back to the R100, RX-2\'s etc. Not sure about the 110s Cosmo - Carl?
I think in the FD it is around 7250rpm, but I haven\'t driven one for so long I could be wrong.
cool, thats a nice little gadget :)
Thanks chaps :)
It starts making noise around 7k, and is possibly the most annoying thing possible on track. I spend most of my time between 6 and 8.1k rpm so the buzzer is going almost solidly, grrr
If anyone knows of a way to move it, ideally to about 7.8k, I\'d be delighted to hear :) Otherwise it is coming out next spring.
Hey Robbie,
have you got the midpipe on yet?
Kind regards
Carl
My car does not have this buzzed, would be usefull as my rev counter likes to stick anywhere between 2-5K rpm. May also be the reason why I don\'t hear it!!! This shall have to be investigated me thinks!

I don\'t think the position of the needle has anything to do withthe buzzer - my rev counter is occasionally dodgy - sometimes reads ~+750 rpm, sometimes jumps up by 5k rpm hitting the endstop and the buzzer doesn\'t go off.
I think the sensor for the needle and the important bits (rev limiter and buzzer) are on a separate circuit.
On a separate note - is hittinghte rev limiter bad for the car in any way?
If someone knows a way of setting up a switch to turn the buzzer on or off that would be great. Might be able to do it with a relay watsit. The same way as you can set up your fog lights to come on with your high beams?

I know it isn\'t a good thing with a PFC, I assume the stock ECU works in the same way. I have hit it twice on my car, but it is something I try hard to avoid.
Anyone know if there is any harm in raising the rev limit (say a couple of hundred rpm), but setting a boost controller to cut boost at the normal limiter? It should be pretty obvious that there is suddenly a lack in power, but be gentler on the engine should the normal limit be exceded than letting the ECU cut power.
What is the rev limiter set to on an rx7? just got mine and havnt hit anything yet....or any buzzing :o

Hi Christopher,
Immobilising the buzzer will be a real BAD move as this same buzzer doubles up as the low water level warning and the last thing you need is not knowing your Rotary is out of water.
One thing that may be of interest is that with my car being a U/K Spec car ( well it was ) the buzzer comes on at the 7000 red line imposed on these cars because of the extra cat, and not 8000 like the imports which is much more useable as a gear change because the when you hear your 8000 beeper going off its not telling you to change gear its telling you it does not like what your doing to it !
Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Finally found how to change the shift buzzer:

Guess I\'ll be getting a couple of resistors when I get my car back :ccol:
