Also, do I need to take the UIM & plenum off to do the job??? If I do, do I need to replace the gasgets I disterb (Sorry if its an obvious question!!!)???

Cheers guys

Hi Jono,

Put "Viton hose" in the search button above it should help.

BTW this is not a job to be undertaken lightly and I would advise that if all is well leave alone.

If you do undertake this cut the ould pipes off with a hobby knife or you will break at least a few of the solonoids along the way.

Hope this helps

Cheers clive......

Thats the problem.... I think things are not all well!!! I totaly lost the second turbo the other week so I\'m kind of hopeing that it\'s a split/perished hose on one of the solinoids!!

Have a look at the pipes on the plastic box between the plenum and the strut brace as these fall off from time to time a kill the second turbo also its not unheard of for the actuator arm itself to fall off giving the same effect

I have just been tackling this job myself mate after a boost problem.

Got 5 metres of Viton hose (4mm I think) from Tim at RX Motors plus some 6mm silicon for the larger ones.

Was scary taking the plenum off for the first time I can tell you lol

Found a large number of pipes loose (talking really loose!), 1 extremely kinked one, 2 leaking check valves and 2 dodgy solenoids that didnt work at anything over 0.5 bar boost.

Hoping this will fix my woes but will deffo be nervous starting it for the first time.

My advice is to take things SLOW !!! And try and do 1 hose or 1 solenoid at a time. Make sure you tiewrap the hose on aswell to be sure.

Managed to avoid breaking the solenoids which was good by heating the pipe (obviously the solenoid was out the car) with a heatgun and cutting through the hose longways.

So far its taken me about 2 weeks to do only spending time at weekends plus I was waiting for parts. Hoping to get the last solenoid this week and then put back together next weekend.

There are plenty of good writeups on the net about how to do this job, my advice is to search for them on here and on the rx7club forum and read them thoroughly first !!!

Good luck though mate, it certainly helps remove the \'rotary scare factor\' when you take the plenum off and see the rats nest in all its glory !!!!

I would also invest in a mityvac so you can test the solenoids out, as said I found 2 of mine were knackered. http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/solenoid_check/solenoid_check.html

Cheers,
Gareth

P.S i must admit I had help and advice from Brian Ellis and Scott (sdminus) plus Andrew at Jimmys before I started.
