Title: Import buying
Post by: complete_wankel on April 13, 2006, 09:15:18 PM
Hi all,
go easy on me, first time postin and what i know about rexs is sweet FA  :3Confused   lol  anyway, as the title said im looking into buyin a rex, preferably an import. Was convinced that you could only get a twin turbo, but ive heard about single turbos and 1.3L. going to try and save about 6 or 7 thousand, just wandering wheres the best place, if any to buy them (live in north wales area)??  Or just buy private??
Also, any 23 year olds with one, whats the insurance like???
Cheers in advance     :Thumbsup!

Strictly speaking, they\'re not twin turbos, they\'re sequential... but as stock, they come with two turbos.

Many people replace these with a bigger single turbo, usually for big bhp increases.

1.3L is the true capacity of the RX7 engine. Because it\'s a rotary, it doesn\'t really compare with a 1.3litre conventional engine.

As for buying, if you\'re looking to import directly, //www.neweraimports.com is always a good bet. However at the moment I\'d recommend buying privately personally. There are a lot of very good condition RX7s for sale by people from this club, which is usually a good indicator that the car will have been carefully looked after. I\'m thinking of selling mine, for instance :) Going this route will usually save you quite a bit of money compared to importing.

Insurance can be a killer, however there\'s currently a nice loophole in the Admiral group\'s quote engine which should massively reduce your premium compared to elsewhere. Plus the fact that you live in Wales (mostly very low risk postcodes, insurance wise) means insurance shouldn\'t be *too* bad...

pm me if you want any more details.

:cheers    thanks for clearing that up 4 me!!  Got a quote on elephant last night, and for the twin turbo import it was £1250. quite happy since i dont have any no claims bonus   :rollin    Ive seen a few private i like but first i need to save up the doller. Loved rexs but ive never known much about them.

Complete_Wankel ; drop me a line.

We have a few RX-7\'s and some en route from Japan. Really mild to wild cars - all depending on your requirements. We are also able to source and supply an RX-7 to your exact requirements direct from Japan.
