Title: drilled and grooved discs?
Post by: mpk490p on April 12, 2006, 08:14:37 AM
Hi all,
i\'m looking to put some drilled and grooved discs on the front and back of my 85 series 1, i have found someone in the us that will do the discs for around £100 that for all 4! including zinc plating in silver black or gold which sounds great i know but as you can imagine the shipping is high + there would be tax on that
i have been quoted shipping in 4 - 10 days at £145
bearing in mind the cheapest i could find any rear brakes drilled and grooved was around £230! without the fronts at around £160
would anyone else be interesed in a set?
iam defenatly getting some at just over £65 a corner i dont think its too bad, the last rx7 i had did\'nt want to slow down and with extra bhp i think its nice to be able to stop!
Picture is just for reference i have checked and they do have 4 stud 114.3 pcd

Sorry unless of course anyone can find a better deal or solution?

Sorry mister we dont/wont sell EBC as we will only sell quality goods !.

Seeing as you have gone to the trouble of sourceing your disc\'s personaly I would advise being patient saving yer penny\'s and getting a good pad combination to go with them because it will be worth it.

The price is the same for 1 or 2 sets they do pads also for £60 a set (they just quote high performance pads) but postage is free on those, i will probably order a set in the next couple of weeks, if your interested i will give you there details or can order it with mine and get it delivered to yours either way is no problem

Hi mate, I\'ve been looking at getting some discs that look remarkably similar to these for the FD, if these guys do a set for the FD I\'d definately be interested in combining the shipping!

the shipping seems a bit OTT - 145 to ship them ????

im sure you can find a cheaper way - i got quoted £50 to ship a clutch and pressure plate - so thats prob the same weight as a pair of discs ?? ( so call it £100 to ship all 4 ?? )

did they do FC ones ???

Mark,

I run black diamonds all round, they are drilled and grooved. You want to use a hard wearing pad with them, otherwise they wont last 5 minutes.:Hammer

I use the Hawk pads - a little expensive, but worth every penny, and they seem to last me about a year of \'fast\' street driving. The combination is excellent - I must have shaved several tens of feet off my stopping distance.:yes

Diamond blacks are good i had them on  my 2ltr rsturbo, but at £230 for teh rears and £170 odd for the fronts tooooooooo expensive,
i can ship a groved and drilled whole set for £240 so it seems to make more sense, will still go with the hawks though.

Wonder what the shipping cost is?  Also, how much are standard disks?
