Title: Boost Gauge
Post by: grinder on October 14, 2003, 01:40:14 PM
Right then peeps

got the car running ok now ( at last )

when i get the car up to about 6500 RMP , the boost gauge shows just under +45 on the standard gauge - is this correct

i dont want to damage anything

i have been told that the car has been de-catted if this helps ??

Thanks

Stu

What unit of measurement is the +45 please :)

I\'m guessing 0.45 bar or the similar x 10 kg/cm2.

If this is the case, it\'s low! Should be about 0.7 bar or +75 of whatever your units are?

Under load?

Regards

Max

Why dont you go buy a Boost gauge or borrow John\'s?

You will probably see slightly higher boost than Stock with a Decat, but it should be about 6.5-7 psi max.

You want to point out you have a Turbo 2 as the Boost settings in Stock form are different.

thanks for the advice peeps

im really paranoid about this car going bang !

the EGI had less things to go wrong on it - and i know the price of Turbo\'s and the such like

im gonna try and source a boost gauge in the next few weeks

i could borrow jons - but its well fastened to his dash

and from what someone said , i should be able to get one for about £15 ish ( un branded  ! )

I told you i would be asking 10,000 questions on here !!

Thanks

Is this a turbo II? The gague is maked in cm/Hg for some random reason! So if 1 bar = 28 inHg, 45cm would be a bit over 8psi, which is about the point of fuel cut - and what it\'s supposed to max out at. If it goes off the scale, somethings wrong...

the boost gauge stops between the *10 marker thingy and the +45 end bit

so it sounds about right ( i hope )

i will know better when

1 - i have a a decent boost gauge
2 - when i find out what chris meant !!!

thanks
