I purchased my car mid policy and as such this is my first renewal for the 7.
It popped through the door this morning (With A-Plan) at 529 for the year :2eek :2eek
I told my insurance company about the mods at the time I bought the car, but they never asked for it in writing and I never wrote in.
Do I question this renewal price or just tell them to go for it ??
Seems mighty cheap to me for a single turbo FD ??
My opinion would be to discuss the mods with them. It\'s not worth taking a risk with insurance and you\'ll only worry about it all year anyway. After all if you\'re handing out over £500 you do want to know that the insurance is actually valid! You also run the potential risk of being insurance black-listed.
It\'s probably not what you want to hear :( but just my opinion.
dont risk as any claim will be null and void due nil disclosure and u risk a blacklist
tell them all mods mate`y. not worth risk. you might be the best driver in the world, but if mrs Smith pulls out into you, you`ll still end up in trouble
Thanks for help chaps...
I think i\'m going to call them and ask what mods they have listed.
Is it me though or does that sound silly cheap with my mods ??
Also I\'m 33 living in West Midlands car on drive !
sounds silly cheap to me
does sound cheap. silly can be good
Depending on your age and no claims bonus situation, it does sound cheap, but then A-plan get plenty of recommendations by MRC members for being good value! My insurance is due at end of April and A-plan is in the frame to get my vote this time as well. :cheers
Aftermarket induction and exhausts are generally ok with insurance companies but when you go above this to an Apexi ECU (they call it chipping), intercooler, and other engine mods they seem to want to know about BHP where the critical limit is 400BHP.
You MUST write down your mods and send it to them. You may consider putting down better brakes mods as well since some companies recognise the balanced approach to car modding.
You are in a better position though with a renewal since you have a track record with the mods already in place.
Hope that helps
Keith
OK, little update...
Spoke to them yesterday, they had made a mistake on the renewal.
Gave them a full list of modifications, including some I\'m planning for the future.
New rate : £950 :chat
I\'m still very happy with that, although I gave them my BHP figure at the wheels :burnout :rollin
Although its more money, at least you know its all legal and above board. Definitely the right thing to do. ;)
