Title: RE-A \'Redom\' ECU
Post by: Red Leader on April 05, 2006, 02:10:36 PM
I,ve seen a type B version of the above for sale. Are they any good?
I have a 92 type R, with a mazdaspeed panel filter and RE-A cat back system.
(no other mods)
Are these euc\'s a direct replacement or piggy back.
I guess some dnyo times needed.

Basically any info good or bad would be great.

I was interested in a Redom ecu to and did some research. They are tuned to 3 different levels A, B & C. The A type raises boosts slightly on a near standard (like cat-back) exhaust and intake using the stock turbo and injectors. The B type is for higher flow exhaust with no cat. Both A & B are for stock injectors and turbo and should ensure that the car runs nice and rich. C types are individually mapped (in Japan obviously) for various setups like bigger injectors, porting and single turbos.

All sounded good I thought but I phoned Reworx to get their perspective and they said its better to get an Apexi which can be properly mapped.

Ok thanks for that.
Guess i\'ll keep saving the pennies for an Apexi unit.

I have one of these at the moment , not sure if its A or B ( think it might be the B as car had no cat when I got it )

Its not been a bad ECU , shame its not mapable but it does have a really cool boost button which ups the boost to almost a bar :D

Its actually up for sale if you fancy a cheap upgrade , I\'m getting a PFC due to on going mods , all depends how far you want to go with your engine , if your staying pretty stock just doing intake and exhaust it should be quite good for you but if you want to go further then PFC is the route to take

Any other questions I\'ll try to answer and if you fancy it just make me an offer

Cheers
