Title: split or single piece?...
Post by: the lemster on April 04, 2006, 08:48:54 PM
Hi guys...

after some 6-7 months of problem free motoring I have developed a nasty knocking sound... well not me my 93 rx7

was just wondering if it could be the drive shaft.. would explain it if it is a split shaft as the sound seem ( and seem is a big seems) to be coming from the middle front of the car...

when the bonnet is up the noise becomes ouder ( obviously) buty I cannot pin point the source of the sound!

it also kind of appear that the main belt/wheel the lowest one in the centre of the engine seems to be vibratin ever so slightly?

could it be the centre bearing?... do they have them?...

all help advice and other comments warmly welcomed, as is the warmer weather!!!

cheers
happy motoring

could this be the \'bearing\' between the eccentric shaft and the prop?...

and what would it mean if the ec/shaft was knocking? ... rebuild?...

prob be easier to put a 2nd hand prop on than rebuild.
