Ive just come from the freezing cold outside after 30mins of trying to get my new wheels on but they dont fit!!
they are the 755 ones that were popular on the group buy recently but they just dont fit right.
Firstly i forgot the spigot thing and tightened then up semi tight then realised, oops. I took them off attatched the spigot and then placed the wheels back on the hub but the face of the wheel didnt match the face of the hub, there was a 1/2inch gap???
I took the wheel off and mated the spigot upto the hub and instead of it slipping over the lip on the hub it hits it, surely this isnt right. I havent had this problem with other wheels before and the 2 faces always let each other for a tight fit. The wheel definatly needs a spigot as without it it rattles when i place the wheel on. With the spiggot attatched it doesnt rattle but the faces dont meet up, what the hell is up with that.
i thought perhaps thats just how it goes on as ultralite surelydidnt supply the wrong spigot so i just started tightening the bolts up with the gap on and now the spigot has cracked.
Will be phoning them tommorow but wondered what you guy thought about this
I\'d take some photos of the problem and email to ultralights. Hopefully it won\'t be anything major. Did the spigot ring fit inside the counter bore in the alloy before you mated the wheel up? Its only there to take up the difference between the bore in the wheel and the mount on the hub. There is a huge range of rings.
Hopefully it isn\'t anything major and you get it sorted soon.
Shaun
Just out of interest is the spigot tapered or overlength ? Is it just too deep for the counterbore in the wheel ??
Shaun
im not sure about tapered or overlength but it fits inside the counterbore in the wheel perfectly. so the outside diameter of the ring is ok.
it just seems the inside of the ring is too small and so doesnt sit onto the mount properly. I thought when i saw the spigots that the plastic looked thick but thought no more of it until fitting. I just thought ultralite would know which ones i should have as they knew it was for an FD
either have the wrong wheel or the wrong spigot as mine fit spot on
There is a high chance you have the wrong spigot by the sound of it.. we have fit wheels to an fd before.. and had np... Have you spoken to Paul @ SPD?

Hi Richard,
Have you spoken to SPD today? I received my 766\'s in gloss with polished rim from them this morning (1st in the country :D) and Guy is sending me the correct size spigot rings as I have the same problem as you. I guess FD owners can buy in confidence from them now as they know what fits ;)
Cheers, Alex
