I have seen some Tokico Illumina gas shocks for sale on ebay, and just wondered if anyone had heard anything good or bad about them on an FD.
Tokico are well made shocks, they make a lot of japanese original equipment stuff including Mazda. Some of the Mazdaspeed shock absorber range is made by them as well.
Got a set on my 1st gen and they seem fine so far, they are more popular in the states than over here if you are looking for info.
Very good shocks. Had a set on an MX-6 and they were easy to adjust and lasted well. I dont think you can adjust ride height though so to make a 30mm drop you will need alternative springs.

Thanks for the info, am hoping to make the ride height a little higher if anything, as it is very very low at the moment, and i\'m fed up of having to get the front bumper repaired (4 times in the last 15 months).
Scott will be a good investment save all those repair bills money saved can go towards wedding fund ;)
pete
so these still need the spings on them ?? ( yeah silly question ! )
i have seen them kicking around aswell
so whats the benifit of gas shocks and not oil filled ones ?
I can recommend the G-Force shocks, they\'re only £600 and are fully adjustable 32 point. The damping adjustment is fantastic as it\'s adjustable from a seperate part which means that if you want a stiffer lower ride you can still fully adjust the damping and it won\'t bottom out. Bought mine from SRB Power, the mechanic fitted them yesterday and couldn\'t stop raving about them
