jesus christ! its like riding in a rocket.
i have a question is it safe to fit a dump valve and where is the best place to get one,
oh and no doubt i will become a full member in the near future
thanks
ps go easy on me complete green horn on rotary engine\'s
Hi mate and welcome :Thumbsup!
And yea u can fit a dumpvalve no bother... Try lookin on ebay there might be replacement pipes with the dumpvalve already welded on...
What spec and mods do u have?? Throw up sum pics if u have them too....
And happy posting...
Andy :)
dont really know much about the car yet still a bit green,i know its a light weight version with no rear seats its got koenig wheels with big wide tyres on the rear i think they are 255/40/17 still spin easy though,no mods except for the exhaust
Like you I came from FTO land onto Rex ownership.
Welcome to the club matey.
Rich :wave
Hello & welcome!
Any pics?
no pics yet i will get some sorted at the weekend,
does any body know which type of dump valve i need? will a bailey one be ok?
thanks
The FD rx7 comes with a standard type dump valve if you want to hear it all you need is to remove the standard Airbox and fit an Induction kit then the standard valve will dump to air instead of into the airbox
Welcome mate to the world of speed. :InLove
This may seem a silly question to ask you but why do you need to pay out good money to fit a D.V. -- when you already have two fitted to your system .?????
Hit boost and come off and you will hear them dumping. You will not gain anything from fitting a bling one except a louder swissssssssssssss.
Save your hard earned cash and have an APEXI PFC & Commander ECU fitted and have it tuned then you will feel her fly. You are also safe then to start doing mods as you will have a mapable ECU which will keep your A/F ( air/fuel ) ratio in the safe zone.
Not trying to have a pop or anything mate just trying to save you money to spend on mods that will give you Speed and power. And a very big GRINNNN. :burnout
thats a bit of good news are they the little brown gizmo\'s connected to the pipes that are about an inch in diameter,
dont know if i want to mod the car at the moment it feels bloody fast as it is.
the back wheels spin up easily with no effort as it is :burnout .can believe this thing is so fast just from two triangles spinning around.
cant see the back tyres lasting to long :D
the mechanic i use races one of these, the model before he has had a look at it and says is the dogs danglers alloy suspension bits and pieces bit fat exhaust, massive brakes.
i used to ride a yamaha v-max 1200 155 bhp that was bloody fast! this car feels as fast if not faster!
starting to realise why chavs jaws drop when i pass them :driving :D
should have got one of these years ago :Thumbsup!
Welcome to the forum :)
Did you get the car from Japan or from here? If the former be carefull with the tyres if they are jap because they wont be accustomed to our lovely British weather :)
Carefull of that back end now ;)
Rixio
Yes they are those brown things. :mmmm
If you are not going to play with the engine, then for road holding change your anti-roll bars front and back to the Racing Beat set up. The front set up comes with an additional brace bracket about £320.00 the lot from RE:WORX ( vendor above ). I put off doing it for some time and I wish I had done it years ago, the handling in corners is the dogs. It takes a lot to impress me, but I must say it is a fantastic mod. HTH.
the car came into the country from japan in november, the tires are yokohamas fronts are good but the back one\'s arn\'t going to last to much longer with the power it puts out :cool
also wondering why there are no rear speakers in the car, been looking around trying to find the right size to buy,
the mesh things are there but no speakers behind them.wondering if somebody stole them somewhere along the line :xconfused
I too came from the FTO, i had an auto GPX. I thought that was a quick car until i got my rx7. They are fantastic cars, just take it easy in the wet and your laughing. The driving feeling is awesome !
If you go for most of the aftermarket bolt on filters the standard blowoff valves are nice an loud !
Enjoy, and welcome !
Shaun

HOW IS THIS?
PLEASE EXPLAIN, IS IT LOUD?
Is your car still running the stock Japan ECU ?????
If it is then it will be mapped ( which you cannot alter ) for 100ron jap fuel. If you run 99ron/98ron you can get away with it as long as you don\'t change Exhaust or air intake. If you do then you really need to change to a mappable ECU ( Apexi PFC + commander -- good tuners have maps already stored for this system for all kinds of different mods ).
The reason for banging on about this is that you can KILL your engine due to lean fuel. Don\'t mod the engine without sound advice.
Do a quick search on here and you will find that the best two tuners IMHO are RE:WORX and WGT both have there flags above. RE:WORX is in Portsmouth and WGT is in Cheshire.
If you look at my signature you can see I\'ve made massive bhp out of the stock engine and stock twin turbo\'s but that was only by following correct advice and not trying to go off and just do what I wanted to do. HTH
No Ecu Mods
Only Suspension And Exhaust
Will An Induction Kit Help?
Will I Need An Upgrade Ecu?
BY THE WAY, I USED TO LIVE IN CORBY
IM IN DAVENTRY EVERY 6 WEEKS ON TRAING COURSES

Change these quick smart. People aren\'t joking when they say the Jap spec rubber is lethal. You can get into more trouble than you can get out of very quickly on that spec rubber. It\'s also the reason you can spin up so easily :)
I changed to Eagle F1\'s and they\'re very good. Some also run specialist track/road tyres (like Dunlop D01j, or Yoko 888\'s) which are fine for most conditions (although snow can be entertaining).
Decent tyres are worth every penny.
i\'m all confused now and somewhat worried!
i\'m thinking about an induction kit or filter if thats all i need and retain the stock bov\'s
is this just a bolt on and go item or do i have buy a new ecu aswell?
obviously i dont want to do anything thats going to cost an arm and leg and i especially dont want to do anything that will ruin the engine.
hope somebody can help also worried about fuel now only filled her up once and used super unleaded that seems to be the best i can get around here
thanks
Can you not get Shell Optimax or BP ultimate anywhere???

Hi,
I know some people would say an induction kit is ok on the stock ECU but I\'ve just got an aftermarket cat-back exhaust and I\'m leaving it like that until I get a Power FC, no point risking it and anyway have you planned how to get cold air to the filters if you ditch the airbox? No point ending up with less power and more risk of det with nice hot underbonnet air going into the engine... To see how hot it can get try this: Open the bonnet and start the engine from cold. After a few minutes the rad fans will come on - I was amazed how hot the air being blown up past the airbox was after just that short time.
If you can get BP Ultimate that will be good, I know there aren\'t that many Shell garages down in the South West (my folks live in N. Devon) so that\'s what I use when I can\'t get Optimax or Tesco 99 Octane.
Hope that helps,
Alex
