yes..undo the light cover screws on top then u have to yank it sideways to the outside hard but carefull or u will chip the paint on the side..really dumb design.they have plastic grommets holding it in like a vice

which brake light are u on about?
the central ones or a side?
in either case u have to take the whole unit off
the middle one is easier
if its an outside unit then take the central ones off, then release the side that u need to replace (3 bolts on top of unit) and give it a quick pull directly backward as its held in with clips as well.
Gud luck

Unbelievable, after 20min I thought I was getting close to losing my rag…
Yank it up and down or side to side?  I don’t want to break anything..

Hi

I simply can not take it off…I guess I am afraid that if I pull too hard and  I may break something…I don’ really know which way to pull â€" from left to right…from right to left or upwards…there is also 2 small screws just under the unit.  I took them off but still could not take the ………..   thing off

I may have to go to Rotechnics or ReWorks (got to go to do the bushes at some point…)

What a pain in the rectum ..

Regards.

This may sound crazy but the best thing i found to do it was a garden trowel - place the length of it between the light and the body and then gently lever the lights out - it spreads the load and stops chipping / denting the paint!

Ho

Do you mean â€" cover the light and some of the body on outside with a towel and use say a flat screwdriver to lever the light out? ( gently)

Kinda - the screw driver gives the pressure to too narrow a point and ends up denting the metal - the trowel has a longer edge and so spreads the load. But if you can do it gently enough with the screwdriver then go for it!

I spent an hour the first time trying to figure out how the buggers come off. Once you know, it\'s simple. But when you don\'t, it\'s a real nightmare!

IIRC; imagine taking the right hand lens off. When you  open the boot, there is a triangular piece of plastic just in front of teh right hand end of the lens, held in with 3 screws, take this off (it may need a wiggle to get out from the central section). The retaining screws for the lens (again, I think there are 3) can be seen. Once these are out, the lens pulls outward, ie to the right. When I did mine, I used a lever down between the lens and the lens recess to move them in a controlled manner. Once you\'ve got the knack its easy, I managed to change my lenses from early to late style in about 10 minutes in total :)

HI

Thanks for the reply.  Your instructions are quite specific, I will have another go this afternoon.  What a bad design...

Michaelb

It\'s not really. It\'s easy to do when you know how. In fact, on saturday i replaced my rear light units, and it only took a matter of a few minutes. It\'s only difficult when you don\'t know how to do it!
