Should there be any hard or rubber pipes without anything connected to them? I have a hard pipe up top with nothing connected to it and 1 rubber pipe that is coming up towards the top but not connected to anything.
I\'m thinking this could be affecting my idling, and possibly my turbo operation.
No expert but if the pipes are open at the ends then I would say it wouldn\'t be helping the situation!!!
I had read somewhere that some of the other pipes are for the US emissions control but dont know if they are bunged?
Yeah, I was kinda thinking that they shouldn\'t be open.
Well, here\'s a pic showing the 2 pipes. The rubber one is circled on the lower left and the hard pipe is circled on the top right. To give an idea of where they are on the car, the pic is simply taken from above and the blurry red towards the bottom of the pic is the strut brace.

The top circled one should be ok, as as you say, they\'re for US emissions. The open rubber one is a bit more of a concern though.
Yeah. Can\'t really tell where it\'s supposed to be going, though.
Just to make things worse. Guy came to fit my alarm today. Started it up, but it cut out after a couple of minutes. Heard him trying to re-start it & guessed straight away that he\'d probably flood it. So now it\'s not starting & he can\'t fit the alarm as he needs to be able to start it up! :2Mad
Cant tell for sure from the pic. But it looks like the vac hose from the Y-Pipe, this should go to the pressure tank via a one way valve.
Only a leak beyond the throttle body will give a fluctuating idle.
If it is the y-pipe vac hose. The turbos will have to work harder. A classic sign would be high intake temps.
I agree with Dragon re the hose, did you remove the plastic pressure tank to see this ? If so did you remove the check valve from here ?
One thing I have noticed those is if you look at the hose to the right, look at where it says 1L, is that hose split ?
Gareth
Nothing removed. That\'s exactly as I noticed it the other day when I was changing my plugs. There doesn\'t seem to be anywhere where the hose could connect to! Or, at least, nowhere I can see at the moment.
Yeah. Well spotted on that hose.
EDIT: Just been and had a look at the hose. Definitely looks like a split. So I\'d better go & get some hose to replace it. Anyone know the actual hose size, so I know what to ask for? Looks like it\'s gonna be a bit of a pain to get off. It\'s rock solid, too! :(
