Title: No Garage
Post by: Bulla on March 31, 2006, 03:26:21 PM
Has anyone had any experience of insuring a rex not being garaged ? Just wondering how much it affects premiums. I\'ve heard some places wont even quote unless its garaged.

I had the same problem to begin with. Insurance companies were just laughing at me down the phone when i said it wasnt going to be garaged.
Luckily i\'m been able to use my neighbours garage to park it in.
Have you tried asking around you neighbours and seeing if they have an unused one you could rent off them. I think it does put your premium up a little as it wouldnt be regesterd (sp) at your address, but its a lot better than not having it in one at all

Unfortunatley no one in the street has one, but we all have double parking spaces 5 metres from my front door (no front garden). I\'d build a garage on there but I dont think I\'d get planning permission. The funny things is the car crime round here is low, and what there is tends to be stereos nicked rather than cars. Plus it Cat 1. I wouldnt be worried myself about having it parked out front but dont really fancy paying a premium for it !

I don\'t have a garage (available). I stated that my car is on the drive, and have not had any problems. I didn\'t even have a problem with AON when i was insured with them. Am now with A-plan

most of the classic policies require a garage

My car was ungaraged for 2 two years, each year with a different insurer. Of course I couldn\'t get Classic insurance at the time.... But I certainly didn\'t get laughed at? It was even declared as parked on the side of a busy road for a portion of one of the policies (poor car).

Mine isnt garaged but parked in residential parking that is a private road. Lucky that my neighbours are a nosey bunch and are always looking out the window. Insuramce only went up by £55 for non garaged so not too bad

Phoned AON and got quoted again without garage and went up about £70 so not too bad, certainly affordable.

As with most things, it\'s usually just down to the insurance company who decides how much this will affect your premium.
