Title: No Gears!!
Post by: AshRX on March 30, 2006, 11:37:30 PM
My FD was fine until i decided to reverse. Wont go in gear at all. I have to really false the gear stick for it to go in. Now I have lost 1st as well. I have the remaining 4 gears and the clutch isnt slipping. Any ideas????

Not sure about the RX but in a pevious car I had, the selector forks went a bit wonky and it was a nightmare to get it into gear.  Had to really push it home or you\'d get nothing but neutral.  Easy fix I reckon if it\'s the selectors.  Best thing is to have a look or get a garage to have a butchers at it.

Sorry couldn\'t be more help, maybe others on here will know more.

Can you get it into gear with the engine stopped? If so, it might be the clutch not releasing properly.

Yes, or the spigot shaft bearing.

engine not running its fine. Main dealers have said gearbox and clutch hydraulics are all cool so must be clutch related

Lot\'s of times people get clutches replaced and all they need is adjusting.
Not saying you don\'t need a clutch as I haven\'t checked the car but. I see it many times where it just needed adjusting. you want details of what to check and where to adjust takes 2 minutes. If adjusting don\'t work I have clutch & flywheel, release bearing which I bought from reworx last year with about 500 or so miles on it available.

Only thing that was adjusted was the clutch pedal. My mate adjusted for me, meant the biting point was a lot higher up.

Bleed the clutch, see if that works first of all. What clutch do you have?
