That pipe is from your air pump, and it usually goes to your airbox or aftermarket airfilters. Not sure where yours is going, never seen it like that before. I would say you could remove it as you can remove the airpump, with no real adverse affects. But if your air pump is still connected then i would cut that pipe making it about 3 inches and get a small breather filter, they sell them in halfords for about £10. Are you removing it because you dont like the look of it???? I will see if i can find some pictures of what i mean. :WaveBye

Actually been thinking about it, that must be where the air pump gets its errrrr air from so it can mix it with the exhaust gas at idle to help reduce emissions. So i dont think you can get rid of it, unless you disconnect the air pump, then you might struggle with the dreaded emissions test.

What mods are you running Chris if its decatted then you can just remove the air pump completely which will give you quite a bit more room in the engine bay. If running a cat then as stated a small breather will do the job.

Yes thats your air pump, as your running a decat you may as well bin it. There\'s a few underdrive pulley kits about with belts if you want to do it all at once. One of the FD  boys will advise you better though.

Its not a big job to remove the air pump, and you can buy the underdrive pulley set from most at the vendors, alot of people get the blue greddy ones or dragon sell a set a bit cheaper for about £100 :driving

A lot of people will tell you that you need an underdrive pulley kit for removal of the air pump, but you don\'t. You just need a belt that will fit the bottom pulley, water pump, and alternator - ShyAuto can supply these. I have one myself. A lot cheaper than having to purchase an underdrive pulley kit!

Howdy mate, the air pump is totally different to the air con. Its just there to reduce emissions at idle. And useless if you are running decat anyway ;)
