has anyoner had the guts to replace there wiring loom that i think runs from the engine down to the ecu. My wires on the ecu are hacked to hell and im getting a bouncing speedo, bad grounds etc etc. would i be better off just ripping it out and starting again? or is it an engine out jobby?
any tips appreciated
Nick
I just removed my engine this weekend and the loom can be pulled out of the car through the grommet before removing the engine, and I think most of the connections are at the top of the engine under the plenum area so you may be able to do it without totally taking the engine out.
(big thanks to davehg for the engine removal help BTW)
I have a spare loom that is in good condition too if you do decide you need one, well thats unless I decide I need a new one! re-attaching all the electrics is really scaring me!
Hope this helps. :)
hi dan,
oh goody! i may well need that loom off of you because mine i think will disintegrate when i pull it back out!
cheers

dan you worry too much lol all will be fine mate........ :god
has anyone actually managed to do this for definate? i really would like to replace without getting the whole block out.
yeah its no problem to do it with the engine in place
have you done this dave? how long did it take you buddy? also if you have, could you tell me which bits you can take off and which bits are best to leave in place!?
cheers
Nick
ive done it mate, takes a while dont forget its also part of the loom that goes to the gear box
I was down at re:worx yesterday and strangely enough actually watched chris pull a loom out without removing almost anything at all! Ten minutes work i reckon, sure he makes it look easy though.
really!? yeah but with my patience i would probably end up doing more harm than good if i tried to rush it! you are welcome to come and do it in ten minutes if you want dan? he he
