Title: MX5 and RX7
Post by: Hayward North on March 26, 2006, 09:31:23 PM
Ok just wondering how many parts are interchangable on mx5\'s and rx7\'s.
To press iv found the thermoswitch off a mx5 will fit and work gr8t on the RX7 (keeps the temp a little lower if anything) and my oil presure sender was faulty (common Problem) so i replaced it with a MX5 one that works a treat.

Anyone found anything else to press ?

oil filters will be the same (they have been the same on 99.9% of Mazda\'s for a long while)

A lot of the major parts of an mx5 will be along the same line as an rx7 but on a different scale, for example the FD inherits the power plant frame design from the mx5

the early mx5 gearbox is in the same family of gearboxes as the early rx7\'s and the late ones are very similar to the rx8 boxes

Ah corse forgot about oil filters, already used 8 MX5 oil filters since i got the car 8 month ago haha.
To refrase my question a little better, what MX5 parts are a direct replacement for 3rg gen RX7 parts?

Depend on what year..

A lot of people in the states swap 99+ Nardi steering wheel from Mx5 to rx7.
and the nardi shiftknob.

Also, the E brake chrome button.
