Title: A couple of photos......time passes slowly.
Post by: SiCook on October 09, 2003, 12:48:55 AM
Hi,
I\'ve a couple of photos of the Rex I\'ve set my heart on.  I\'ve added one at the end (hope that\'s ok, not sure if it is...?).  I think I have - it doesn\'t show in the preview....here goes anyway.

It should be on the road driving around Essex and Herts for the end of November.  It won\'t have the black and red wheels though - they\'ll be either all silver, or anthracite centres with silver rims (any suggestions for a car that\'s all black?).

Stock apart from the wheels, exhaust, boost gauge and gear lever knob.

I\'ve been keeping my eyes open but only seen one Rex around these parts....

Cheers,
Si.

Nice car. I like the alloys, you could always have the red rims painted black to match or have them made silver or Blinged :) Is that the 96 - 99 shape? What type is it RB, R, RS, RS-R, RZ etc...

Hi - thanks for the comments.  The wheels are growing on me - I really didn\'t like them originally, but I\'m coming around to them.

I bought the car through NewEra Imports.  I was lucky that this one came up within a couple of months of my very first enquiries and within weeks of me handing over a deposit.  I asked around different groups and got recommendations and for Rex\'s particularly nobody had a bad word to say about NewEra and Miguel.  I was lucky enough to catch up with him and some of you all at their Birthday Party at Billing.

Buying through NewEra has been absolutely the right decision so far and having met Miguel and harrassed the poor man by mail about the Rex I\'m sure what remains will go through smoothly.    Then I get to pick it up :evillaugh

The car set sail from Tokyo on the 19th September and is due to arrive in Southampton on the 28th October (it\'s in a big ship, so it should stay dry).  From then it\'s with a prepping company for four weeks to have assorted goodies done to it (alarm/immobiliser, SVA, MoT, etc...) and I should pick it up at the end of November.  I\'m fairly sure it\'s MotorMall who are doing all the SVA work and the like.

As for the car - it\'s an early 1996 (can I *cough* loose the CAT?)  RX7 Twin Turbo  FD3S Type RS.

Cheers,
Si.

...harrassed him in that I\'ve pestered him with a gazillion questions like an excited schoolboy.  He\'s answered them all and been spot on with everything.

Just re-read my previous post and thought that part could be taken the wrong way.

Cheers,
Si.

They look nice.  I have to confess that I\'m starting to like the wheels on mine as they are....

I\'m just wondering about doing something to lighten up the car a little - all black is a bit too much for me.

All silver wheels may suite the car - your\'s look good on your car.... Hmmmm, there\'s an idea planted.

Here\'s a similar close up of one of my alloys.  I\'m a little anxious about getting hold of tyres - these are 18" alloys, I\'m not sure of the other dimensions.

I\'d imagine they\'ll be fairly easy to find, if a little more expensive than normal.

Cheers,
Si.

...ahhh, but yours looks to have a side skirt ....  It certainly looks to have something extra that mine hasn\'t.

Do you have any ideas when you\'ll get hold of the keys?

I keep forgetting about the red rims on them (c:   Why don\'t left handed smilies work on Y!G...?

I\'m plotting it\'s first trip to the \'ring already - May/June time next year if anyone is interested.  There is a fair old mix of cars and people from the UK and further afiield (Italy, etc).

Cheers,
Si.

Hmmmm Silver car too - very nice.  Behind  the wheel there\'s something on the bodywork - it looks like it\'s a mudflap or something similar.  Mine doesn\'t have that - and I was pondering asking about mudflaps (to stop tar and the like getting on to the metalwork) but I was too scared to ask.

Anyway, those extra bits that yours has behind the wheels - are they available from Mazda and can they be retro-fitted?  Or are they not worth it....?

Cheers,
Si.

Not sure mate, they came as part of the package. It does make cleaning the car a bit easier that\'s for sure ;-)

Anyone else know if u can buy these extra "guards" (for want of a better word) ?
