Does anyone know where I can go to get my exhaust housing and V-band welded together? Not had much luck locally unless anyone can shed any light - pref in the Kent/ London area. Thx.
Don\'t think you will be able to weld cast iron to stainless, due to diff expansion rates. I think you\'ll either have to bolt or clamp them together.

I\'m sure it can be done, my previous car\'s manifold had an external wastegate runner made from stainless welded onto it. Bit of a pain in the ass, but this is the way I\'ve seen the yanks do it with the vband turbos. Not found anyone nearby willing to do it :(
It cant see it can be done. The cast has to be heated to be welded and has a lower melting point. There is a guy in norwich called matchless engineering who may be able to help

have welded my mild steel v band flange to my exhaust with no issues, can\'t see why it can\'t be done. you might need to heat the cast up first though
I have welded my stainless steel flange to my turbo housing with Mig mild steel wire, the trick is to heat the exhaust housing and the flange in the oven iuntil they are as hot as you can get them, weld them while they are hot (spot them together while cold to make life easier) then let them cool slowly and naturally.
It worked on my previous turbo aswell, I can get it done for you if you like, i could borrow the w/gate at the same time.

Thanks for the offer Tony, would\'ve taken you up on that but have handed said housing over to Clive to get it done for me instead.

Yep mike is correct, and a friend in a turbo company has said to use SS weld rod if possible.
Paul:)
Thanks for that :)
And thanks to Clive for sorting me out in record time :Thumbsup! Will add it to the bumper repair quote when i get it done through you, thanks again.
