Ive had my Rx-7 for about three weeks now and all of a sudden i seem to have a large problem. When accelerateing with full gass, as soon as i hit 4,500 revs the car loses so much power and only creeps up the revs when it gets to 5,000. The boost on the turbos doesnt drop. also if i dont give it gas when i turn it over it will cut out, but once its started its fine.
I live in the north west and am also having loads of problems finding anywhere to take it. The car also seems to be back firing quite a bit.
Any advise would really help. I know it could be one in many things but am just hoping its nothing too serious.
cheers mark
I\'m not a huge know it all about rotaries, but possibly (guessing here):
1) maybe leaning out? What fuel do you put in it? I\'d say 98 RON at a minimum...
2) Spark plugs are screwed (mis-firing?), mayb eget new ones? (not expensive, and these are a regular maintenance thing anyways).
No vacuum hose have popped of the engine or anythign have they? (look for loose hoses in generall... or just ones with possibly small slits/cuts in them)....
Good luck mate, but I wouldn\'t run that car any more (may cause too much damage...)

Hi Mark,
How old is the car? how many miles are on it?
Does it start ok, and idle normally - does it sound ok on idle? or llike a lawn mower? i.e. running on one cylinder?
Could be many things, fuel filter or injector blockage, spark plug not firing (broken), high tension lead loose, coil failing, through to the engine itself having problems.
Does it have any mods.?

Alright
My cars a 92 J reg with 52,000 miles onit. Ive changed the oil, oil filter and the plugs but not the fule filter, could it be that. My local garage couldnt find where the fule filter went(bloody novices)
Im really6 hoping its gonna be nothing to bad. could it be my rotary fins??
Wen you acelerate with half gas though its fine and will rev till 8,500 easy, its just as soon as you (TRY) and give it full gas. The main reason i bought a RX7.
Cheers again folks
Mark
oh yeh, just to mention that it ticks over fine and sounds sweet at idle. may fluctuate a bit but still sounds ok.
Cheers
Mark
Long live the rotary (well at leaste a bit longer than mine did :) )
As mentioned earlier - sounds like a split hose / hose blown off, another thought maybe a collapsed cat?
