Title: Profec B Spec II has Died :(
Post by: shaunwil on March 18, 2006, 07:22:45 AM
It was working fine last night when i took my car out to check all was fine for Shakespeare Raceway today. But i get up this morning fire the car up and all i get is OFF on the display and no control of boost whatsoever. :reallymad

I\'ve had the controller open to see if i could see a dry joint, but is basically one fully sealed unit. I\'ve had the little black box of tricks open and looked for dry joints and no joy at all !!! I\'ve resoildered the plug to the controller and no joy

It still is acting like a boost gauge, but nothing else.

Im sorry it means i can\'t make the RWYB at SCR, but now theres no point in going :(

Im frustrated at the mo, really wanted to come and do some runs, but i can\'t if my controller is knackered !!!

Can anybody help, is anybody a Greddy dealer on here that stocks spare parts ???

Shaun, going back to bed :(

Blimey 15 views and not one reply, I think its the solinoid that has packed in, they do list replacements on the greddy webpage but they don\'t allow uk shoppers. Has anybody else seen this problem ???

Cheers Kev, Just spoke to pip. Realised i had a spare solinoid (my old apexi one) and tried it to no avail. Going to have to buy a replacement one. At least i\'ll have a few spare solinoids !!!

Bugger !!!!

Not really, only day i could actually go, too late now. I\'ve tested the cable between the solinoid and the controller and thats fine, i\'ve resoldered the plug in the controller and looked for dry joints, but to no real joy. It was workig last night fine, come this morning and its knackered.

Just one of those things !!

At least it didn\'t happen on rs3 morning !!!!

What happens when you press and hold \'select\' for 2 seconds. Does it not turn it back on?

Max yor a star :god The thing that you said didn\'t work (lol) but it lead me to thinking and i pressed all three buttons together and it looks like it may have turned back on. I\'ll have to take it out to see if it is actually working, but hopefully its as simple as that.

D*mn manual doesn\'t mention it anywhere at all.

God i hope its fixed itself again !

Cheers

Well i\'ve just got back and its working fine now, so for anybody with the profec B spec II boost controller you can turn the unit ON and OFF by pressing all 3 buttons together for a couple of seconds.

At least i know now

Cheers for all the input guys !

Sorry, It says on page 13 press the big button for 2 seconds to turn the unit on and off, but that didn\'t seem to work only all three buttons !

Cheers again

just a quickie, have you got your profec controlling both the wastegate actuator and pre control actuator or only the wastegate? im fitting mine and been told to fit it to both pre control and wastegate surely this will cause over boost on the first turbo, seeing that the first stage turbo is controlled by the pre control then by the waste gate at full boost?? Any help will be appreciated

Blame the damned yank instruction manual for that!

Aha! When all possibilities are exhausted, hit it hard and press all buttons whilst yelling "work dammit" ;)

too true, I bought it from california and it came with a japanese manual ! So i had just downloaded the quick guide to learn how to set it up.

As for where its plumbed, i think its just plumbed in at the front of the turbo pack. I didn\'t install the pipes, pip did for my previous boost controller !!!

Cheers Again
