Title: Electrical Gremlins
Post by: chris_m006 on March 17, 2006, 11:38:13 AM
Posted this up a while back but have more info now to maybe probe everyones mind.

1) When i open my car door a low annoying beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound eminates from the drivers footwell, it stays on with door open, but when i close door it goes away after about 30sec with a click of a relay somewhere.

the beep begins again the minute i turn the key to the ign click and continues throught all my driving.

as you can guess this is seriously annoying, only thing to make it go away is if i pull out the "room" fuse, no interior lights then but!!!

Alfter some inspector clueso\'ing about the footwell i\'ve found the source of my nemisis, its a black box which i believe is the CPU, its says F100 on the side of it in white and has writing inscribed on its face with something along the lines of CPU and 12.8V etc.......

Any ideas of why this noise would be occuring and what has it got to do with my interior lights?????

Any ideas!!!!!!

2) After sorting my speedo problem out I set about putting back in the stereo after clearing out the melee of wires left by the previous Japenese owner. Mazda Iso connector fitted and plugged in as previously but now no sound!!!! Radio is working 100% as far as i\'m aware and was only a few weeks ago.

Could this be a radio relay gone or another fuse of some kind??

Again any ideas welcome!!!

Chris

When fd\'s have been left standing a long time this tends to happen.
You can remove the white connector in the middle of the f100 box and the noise will stop. Reconnect it after about 15 minutes the noise sometimes comes back, or it will resolve it. Other wise you will need to replace the unit.
Someone says that the solders inside get old and break and this causes the box to alarm. Maybe try and open it and see if any solders are gone and re-solder.

I  thought it was the seat belt warning that beeped when you first turned the ignition on ?
Mine beeps for 30 seconds when i get in, and stops the minute i put the seatbelt on.

It can run, but some interior functions wont work. Off the top of my head I don\'t remember which functions connect via that lead, I think it is power windows or wing mirrors something like that and maybe the radio.
