Title: 13B anatomy
Post by: MikeLMR on March 15, 2006, 11:53:56 PM
Right I think I know what goes where on most of these but I thought it might be usefull for reference anyway so here are some photos of a bare 13b block with all the \'oles numbered up

basically what does what ... I think i\'ve got a few of them sorted but I\'m not sure on others !

1. ? not sure water or perhaps a breather ?
2 Oil injection points x 2
3 Pockets for injectors
4 somthing to do with emmisions (not sure what its called)?
5 oil feed from pump
6 oil filter pedestal
7 ? tapping of some sort ?
8 another tapping one of these must be oil pressure ??
9 water ? return from heater ?
10 oil feed to bearings etc. (from the oil cooler or am I missing some pipes?)

Ok my answers are:

1: coolant feed to throttle body.
2 & 3: as you said.
4: air feed to exhaust from air pump??(not 100% on this one).
5 & 6: as you said.
7: oil pressure sensor.
8: temp gauge sensor.
9: almost, feed to heater.
10: as you said, pipe work from oil cooler connection.

thanks for that, is the temp gauge sensor for the water temp ?

Its just that theres a large sensor in the back of the water pump housing that I thought was the water temp sensor (its not a fan switch as its was off a 12a with a mechanical fan)

It taps into the water galleries and the sensor for the dash gauge fits there.

The sensor in the back of water pump is for the ECU. Presumably not being used if engine came from a 12A??

Ithink it may have been a temperature switch for the semi automatic choke ?
