Title: Lost my horn FD
Post by: Phil Dasilva on March 13, 2006, 11:44:51 AM
The horn on my FD hasn\'t worked since is took ownership. I fitted a Snap off boss a week back and took the time to check the necessary buttons and cabling i can hear a relay ticking noise when hit the button but know noise.

I haven\'t checked to is if the car has a horn, is located down by the front bumper?

Any other ideas?

I did run a search but most Horn related question went unanswered....so here goes nothing

thanks

The horn is behind the front bumper, so a bit of a pain to get too. You might be easier just buying a horn and wiring it in and situating it in the engine bay, the standard horn sounds pathetic anyway..

cheers

Well, find the horn, then put a meter on the wire, and lets see if 12v is getting to the horn. You might be able to do this by putting your hand in the air intake for the rad and feeling around.

sounds like you need to find the relay first and check that it has a feed to it and a switched output. you should have (4 pins)an ignition feed 12v, your switched(horn button) feed 12v, a perminent earth and 12v output when you press the horn button which will go to the horn. it might be easier to start here if the horn is difficult to get to. just because the relay clicks doesent mean it works.
