Title: Newbie with 3rd gen prob
Post by: henry.semple on March 12, 2006, 10:51:28 PM
Hi to all just got myself a 3rd gen import rx all i can say is awesome its not  seriously quick but it is quick enough for me, its the look of the car that does it and the looks on the faces of the public as you purr past.
I have a question though (If im in the wrong section im sure im just about to find out) at around 111 or 112 mph a limiter cuts in.
How can this be removed i have read some place about cutting a wire at the ECU is this correct any help would be great. Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

It can either be removed by converting the speedo to mph, therefore by default you remove the limiter.

Installation of Apexi Power FC ECU which would also remove the limiter.

There are some other methods too which others may mention.

Hope that helps. :)

Are you sure the car is running 100% fine?

The RX7 is running sweet it pulls like a train, well up until 112mph.

Cheers Freddy for the info do you know anything about cutting the wire at the ECU?
Is there a web site that sells the converted speedos?

You can get these from Ebay for around 40 quid, they also convert the speedo to MPH and remove the limiter which is a Japanese requirment

It is the cheapest option as the apexi ecu will set you back about 500 quid.

Have one on mine and its case of removing the dials and cutting a wire and putting this in place and adding power, easy really.
