Title: Will an Rx7 Engine Fit into a MX3
Post by: Rx7Chris on March 11, 2006, 01:55:29 PM
I have a mate that is wondering if a rx7 engine will fit into a mazda mx3 just wondering really what work would have to be done to do this probably more work than worth bothering really but thought i would ask anyway.

Thanks

if you went rwd, you\'d need a new transmission tunnel, space for a rear diff or axle, new rear suspension, revised front suspenion (steering rack will be in the way) , fuel tank moved etc. etc. .... lots of work but nothing impossible or even remotely complicated, just hard work and £££

you could of course stay front wheel drive but then there are so few fwd rotaries about that you would be very limited on advice and would have to do some creative thinking on the packaging as things like driveshafts and exhausts look like they could be tricky due to their proximity to each other.

Have a search on //www.ausrotary for Lawtons 323 ... they ran a BG 323 (the source of 90% of mx3 components) with a FWD 13B turbo and later a  FWD 20B turbo
