Title: Quieter exhaust?
Post by: probedb on March 10, 2006, 01:45:15 PM
Anyone know any good quality quietish exhausts?

The car I bought has a HKS Super Drager 5" backbox on and it\'s bloody loud and fecking huge.

I was after starting to look at a full catback anyways (getting a Power FC soon  :wiggle ) so wanted something a bit quieter and not with a 5" tip.

Any thoughts?

Ta :)

The volume dial on the stereo will work a treat and its very cheap.  :)

I have a twin exit racing beat stainless steel number, i like the twin exhaust look...its certainly quieter than the missle launcher that is a 5\' pipe...

Have you de-cat\'ed yet. If so just drop the FEED silenced mid-pipe box in and problem solved £300 from RE:WORX. The rest of my system is HKS and the FEED keeps it nice and user friendly until you hit boost then it sounds Sweetttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. db levels are low enough for most if not all Track days. HTH. :cool

go single with a port job then u will know what loud is mine is feed mid and apexi rear and is louder than a full decat and hks box on a car with twins..think a need a third box if only it would fit

forget it........... i have had rx7\'s for 14 years and never had quit one yet!.......  trouble is its a compramise for power.   I must be getting old cos i am about to sacrifice some power to make mine quiet.  FC\'s have two rear silencers which makes things a little easier.   Not sure what you put on an FD though

Cheers all. I think I\'ll have a look around. To be honest I could get used to the noise but that 5" exhaust does make me laugh....something more discrete methinks :)

You find a nice 4" with very good resonaters. Mine is Ring-legal. Phil\'s and Max\'s are both singles and both get thru the Ring noise tests which are frequent and well, German :-/

I also have a feed midpipe on mine, and a feed rear section to match :)

single turbo, streetport... it\'s \'acceptable\' noise wise and only a 4" tailpipe.

I think I\'d struggle with non-static noise tests though (it\'s quite loud on WOT)

I have a 5 inch loud rear end!  I have got an apexi active rear silencer bung and with a bit of modification it fits well and works a treat.

In saying that Pro...,a loud but good decent throaty sound from a ROTARY is hard to come by.Most aftermarket systems upset the NICK NICK cos they are so commercial..however some systems are so sweet that the NICK NICK wont even bat an eye,so take your time and shop for the system to suit your taste and car.........the REWORX systems are cool cos they dont hurt your inner ear  (Stripey excluded)...Carl at Haywards had a good back piece on his red Rx7...... :guinness

lol Rich,

drive a single T04 RX-7 in a big German city  like Munich with German number plates and jap- spec exhaust.... trust me, you never ever seen so many police surrounding your car ^^

But we have made few Japanese Systems road- legal here in Germany which are silent but not much restrickted. Many Fujitsubo systems will  fit your requerements, them are very silent and made of SS. Or the RB-Box from US is nice aswell.

I agree with Iwan^ try and get hold of a fujitsubo system or racing beat :driving as they are good for more power and quite with it.
