Group buy work in progress on scoobynet & i\'ve just had details of what will be my RX7 from Miguel.
Now it\'s in need of the ole power FC treatment to free up some BHP ;) but i wasn\'t sure wot other goodies are generally the best option(s) for the rex, power FC & FC commander presumably? How about the AVC-R boost controller etc?
Any thought greatfully received.........:D
Cheers

what you got on your rex already ? then can tell you whats best for you to get for it :)
copied from Miguels mail:
"1996 (Sept) RX-7 13B REW 1310cc. 4th Revision Type R Bathurst model. 5 Speed Manual. Only 52,562km (32,667 genuine miles) from new. PAS, P/W, AC, ABS, 4 piston front callipers (Std), Sony 200Watt Hi-Fi with CD/MD Radio, `10 Disc CD Changer (Note that hifi is supplied free of charge with this car). Sports seats, fitted mats, twin oil coolers, etc. The interior on this example is in good condition and this has been a non smoker\'s car. For this model, a Momo Steering wheel has replaced the standard plastic centred item. There\'s also a Mazdaspeed Carbon Fibre & Alloy gearknob fitted (Removed and hidden behind the passenger mat for safe-keeping when shipping), a GReddy Boost Gauge and an HKS Turbo timer (Unlikely to work in the UK with an alarm/immobiliser).
FD3S - 40XXXX models onwards models also have a 16 bit ECU which reacts faster to provide better engine management and slightly more power (265 bhp as std). Also there are uprated tail lenzes in addition to some slight engine mods as std. This is a lightweight model built just before airbags were introduced as std. in Japan. Engine is in fine form, showing high oil pressure, with even idle, quick pickup from idle. Clutch and brakes have low wear, indicating this car hasn\'t been driven hard. Mechanical condition is exactly how it should be for a car with so little use.
Bodykit is complete and consists of original TBO Racing Sports Side Skirts, rear flares & Spoiler, plus a 1999 look front bumper of unknown manufacturer - It\'s much like an original 1999 front, only in fibreglass. The car looks like a recent model as a result. Unmarked 17" Kanze Eurocourse 2 piece Alloys with correct off-set are fitted, complete with 235/45/ZR17 & 255/45/ZR17 Goodyear Sports tyres in good condition.
Suspension is original, although the springs have been replaced with 25mm lower than standard, giving improved handling and looks.
This example is also fitted with a JASMA (Street legal in Japan) approved stainless steel silencer (Looks like a cat-back "Blitz" item). Also fitted is a two element HKS induction kit. This setup will not only allow slightly improved breathing, but also make induction & sound of the standard dump valves in operation - audiable. Currently it\'s making around 280 bhp. The ECU has remained standard, which means this car hasn\'t had boost increased, although it\'s ready to have an Apexi FC kit fitted in the UK to bring it to around 340 bhp safely. (To obtain Apexi FC at a low price see: http://www.greenline.jp)
The car is of auction grade 3.5. Interior is immaculate with no faults to report.
There are some minor paintwork defects which we\'ll be having repaired to perfection as follows: Front bumper, although firmly fitted, needs adjustment to make the fit on the front N/S wing closer. There are also minor stone chips on the front bumper and a scratch on the N/S corner. Also 2 minor pin dents on each rear quarter and one on each door. Passenger mirror has a mild scratch. O/S wing has been blended onto the roof before and this area needs re-painting to "lose" the blending of paint. Each skirt also has minor paint damage.
As with all our cars, this one will be presented in immaculate condition on completion with all faults above taken care of as part of the price. We will also supply some "RZ" stickers, which finish off black cars particularly well.
Of course, it goes without saying - a car of such low mileage and condition is a gem amongst RX-7 imports. Oil pressure is high, regularly serviced and well maintained, - this car runs very sweetly - just an an RX-7 is meant to, with an added rasp of sound to allow enjoyment of this car to the fullest. RX-7\'s are always an event to drive whether down to the shops or long distance - No jap import is more fun than a 7, in our humble opinion."
:D i think that covers it all ;)

Sounds tasty how far do you want to go with modding though.
that\'s a dangerous question to ask a man ;) i was going to keep my impreza standard for the first year then i started going to meets  oh i\'ll have 1 of them 2 of them ooohhh that looks nice :D lol
Does the estimate of circa 340 with the power FC sound reasonable? That being the case i think that should more than suffice for a while i fully intend to take it easy until i learn the limits, my first RWD car, on test tracks wetter the better type courses & track days of course ;) then who knows 4 rotors & a big turbo  lol.
Si (getting carried away again (http://smilies.crowd9.com/cwm/3dlil/rolly.gif))
i\'ll see how the zaust etc goes but possibly go the way of blitz nurspec stylee decat thing as well which i no wood need remap etc.....
Si
I can\'t see how an apexi ecu is going to make 60 bhp.
I think you will be running around 300-310bhp at flywheel with one in my opinion. Stop the tempting and post pics:D
Depends what you do to boost :D :bandit
Do the fuel system beforehand though or it\'ll be :( :( :(
R.
ok then i cant resist
buttt u aint seen me roight still winding the scooby peaps up by not saying wot im getting next (http://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/edoom/GlowingDemon.gif) woahahahaha. Soo if i\'m with any1 when/if u see me at pod SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;) lol
anyway

(300-310 safely) 340 not too safe plus a load of dosh for other parts as rich states namely fuel system etc.
so what wood need doing fueling, sumin like the apexi super AFC or we talking bout other bits, just thinking while i\'m hoping to get apexi stuff cheap ;)
Fuel pump, secondary injectors, pressure reg...
Looks very nice.
Fueling apexi pfc does part of it, if you want a safe 340bhp I still think you would have to crank the boost up too much on the apexi with just a back box and induction kit trying to get to 340.
But I guess you would need a fuel pump, probably fuel pressure regulator, bigger secondary injectors and someone to tune the apexi properly for you.
Rich beatme to it:D
thats my other query whos good with the FC tuning? Guna ask at hurley engineering as its local to me but interested in peoples thoughts etc?
Cheers

I hear that Pip at WGT has done a few. But sadly we dont have any guru\'s over here, unlike Aus that is flooded with them. :(
Dan
PS. I might be posting a little later on Scoobynet to help you keep them guessing. ;)
yes Danny fisher on scoobynet init:cool
Please dont say owt on scoobynet yer very name alone is infamous with RX7\'s ;)
I tell thee it\'s proper hard keepin it secret gettin all the but u can trust me pressure & i told u wot i was getting, er yes but that was 2 days b4 u picked it up not 2 months or so :( It\'s not that i dont trust any1 it\'s just easier not telling any1! bsides it\'s those i trust that it\'s most funn winding up :D lol

Are we talking FC - as in 2nd gens, or POWER FC??
There are LOADS of cars running Power FC over here - not just FD\'s - some one must be able to tune them.
RC development can map power FC as they got the specail software which mapped on a lap top, my bro;s EK9 and the other evo7 was mapped at RC....well please and they know what they are doing!!!
sam
Sam, sorry to say this, but there is a difference between having the software to map a rotary and being able to map a rotary.
I would rather go to people who have already built a reputation with rotary engines, than those who sell the equipment.
Accordig to Apexi\'s website, RC are not even official distributors of Apexi goods. DP Motorsport are.
On rotary engines you cant afford to get even one det, where as you can on piston engines. Although its not a wise thing to do.
All you need to map a rotary with the Apexi PFC is either the controller (limited functions) or the Datalogit which you plug in to a laptop and have more functions.
Dan
i think the software they got is data logit, anyway PIP at WGT can map it too if ppl worry about RC not know the car enough
