Title: Yellow spot lights
Post by: oddball on March 08, 2006, 09:40:07 AM
Hi guys,
Had my FD now for 2 years. It has yellow spots on the front.  They are not connected and there is no switch on the centre consol.  The glass on one had been broken recently so the spot needs replaceing.  My question is, are these spots legal in this country.  If they are I can get a replacement and perhaps get them working, or should I change the spots for different colour? Anyone....

They are fog lights from memory. So not really needed.

I was wondering the same.

Mine work and are yellow but I don\'t like the yellow lights, I think it\'s the lenses that are yellow, does anyone know if you can get clear replacements?

Mine are yellow too, i think it\'s the lenses, i think i have seen white fogs on later models, but not sure about that, i posted recently about these as i was thinking i don\'t ever use them and think the car may look better without them, more air flow! but iv\'e changed my mind again now, and may fit clear spotlamps in thier place to come on with the headlights main beam, like my Probe was,

Hello chaps, you are in luck I have recently removed my front yellow foglights. I too did not like the yellow tint to them, if you remove them you can take the outer casing/shell apart. There is a large yellow coloured dome shaped piece of glass. Almost looking like a fancy coloured  paperweight,if you remove this piece of glass. You can simply put the light unit back together and it lights up a nice white colour. It is the glass that is yellow and not the reflective lense. After all that you can wrap up the said yellow dome glass thingys that you no longer need. And give them to you granny/aunt for Xmas/birthdays and say they are a rare Japanese paperweight. That you bought especially for them and you tell them it has special powers of Rex ;) .  They will think you have spent a fortune on them and luv you for ever  :Ladys-man . Probably leave you lot\'s of money in their will\'s, and you can buy lot\'s of goodies for your Rx7.........sorted.....thanks Leigh.

92 JDM FD got the yellow fogs, from 93 onwards they changed to white. maybe that yellow bit of glass became too expensive when people realised what great paperweights they made

pulled mine appart and that yellow thing appears to be a lens, not sure removing it will improve the lighting.....guess i should remove just 1 and then compare them for light throw at night.....those lights don\'t seem to be that useful, if you\'re looking just for something pretty probably some led spots would use so little electricity that they could be left always on and would certainly be much lighter               eric e
