Thats a daft price!!!!
wow if had 4 g lying around I would snap that up!! what a bargain even if the engine might need a rebuild, with the 3k rebuild its still only 7K!!! someone buy it!!!
I know...total madness! Iv just bought a new one otherwise i woulda bought it!

:)
Not my old one it was a twin turbo.
I rang the bloke today and it was sold yesterday for £4000. Said he couldnt belive why no one wanted it. me either. Anyone know what was up with it?
Freddy, why can you not tell us out in the public? What\'s to hide!
Fish
I saw that on autotrader a month or two ago. I was really considering buying it (It was £5500 then). If I remember correctly from when I saw it advertised, it had reportedly had two rebuilds and was owned by a mazda dealer in japan I think.
Like you said, even if it needs another rebuild, you still have a signle turbo with V-mount for £7k. :2eek
Maybe it needed more than just a rebuild?????
Freddy emailed me about this cos i asked, i dont think its a big secret to say basically it had had a pretty hard life apparently.
More of a restoration project than a new car possibly!!
:)
Thank You to rmagictastic for telling me about this site. Just to clarify a couple of issues you talk of in this thread. I sold this car this week for yes- a stupid price. :spank
I imported it myself from Japan as I, like most people seem to be on this forum, have a passionate interest in rapid japanese cars and the real world value for money in terms of "performance" they represent. This car was bought by myself at the USS Tokyo auction, with an exporter doing the bidding and paperwork for me. I also purchased other rx7\'s during this visit, another single turbo and a very clean 94 R2. I went out to Japan twice last year to look for cars, I know an exporter and his family so its two things at once!
Originally I advertised the yellow one before Xmas after enjoying the pleasures of a Knightsport modified FD for 4 months. I advertised at £5500 as that was what I felt the car was "worth" in the UK with plates and MOT. I got no calls. I said that the engine had PROBABLY been rebuilt twice because that is what the exprorter had said to me, based on the fact that it had covered 167,000 km and was used for track work in Japan. The exporter knows his stuff with rotarys as he has spent much time in New Zealand and Australia teaching people how to rebuild rotarys when they first started importing them and trying to run them on their fuel :Nono!
The deregistration document states that the car was registered to Kanto Mazda in Japan prior to export.
I bought the car on condition and specification; I recognised the Knightsport influence (cooling, ecu, boost control) and got the car at an unbelievable price, probably due to the kms, and good fortune on the day. Actually being at the auction gives you a massive advantage as you can make instantaneous decisions, viewing maybe 30 cars, see them go through before you and deciding that way. The car drove perfectly, and very quickly - indeed I covered almost 3000 kms with no issue whatsoever, from 200 mile motorway trips to 2 mile trips to work.
I am not a trader, I have a full time job and I just love the cars, especially the FD\'s. It just makes sense to me to pay £400 for a plane ticket to actually go over there, experience the buzz of having a choice of 12,000 motors, buy a few then sell them to pay for the trip with maybe a few pennies to spare.
The point is it\'s the involvement with the cars that gives me the pleasure, not ripping off someone in the UK for a motor that at the end of the day is a 13 year old car that someone else has taken the hit for by spending £x amount on mods in Japan.
Ps I have had a "look round" the forum and I love it, its great to see there are so many others out there who share my passion
Quality. :cool
You will fit in well mate. Honesty is priceless. :wave

Id love to be able to do that. Being out in Japan and having access to loads of nice motors. :mmmm
Jim did you get a chance to send any of those pics of the other one you have. Good of you to come on here.
I believe that any comments made about any car for sale must carefully be assessed. The car is likely to be up to 14 years old and as many have been modified by previous owners to make them more suitable for their own use they may no longer be fit into the category of what a prospective buyer would want. I for instance have seen several 93 type R’s ranging from a street cruiser with everything highly polished (and yes I do mean everything!) to no holds bared single turbo track specials. The range of difference of apparently similar cars is so great there’s bound to be comments and opinions expressed that may unintentionally cause offence to the owners.
Now don’t laugh all you current owners, but as the relative price of these cars has come down things have got very tricky for us aspiring owners…………(waits patiently while the chuckles stop).
Ok I will explain. When the cars were more expensive an engine rebuild for instance would be a relatively small percentage of the whole value of the car, now it could easily be up to half its total value.
The same goes for the mods it’s got, or more likely the mods the new owner would want it to have.
It may seem that people like myself have got more fussy when trying to select a rex but its purely down to the huge range of what we have to choose from and trying to find a car that fits as best as possible.
By the way if anyone can recommend an fd for up to £6500 mildly modded with a fresh engine please let me know.
I have one, look at my link.Running 300bhp at the fly and the more important mods already done (i.e. Apexi, decat, cat back etc) Also only got 10K miles on rebuilt engine.
Only thing is Im in Scotland and people are no prepared to travel.
that yellow one was a bargain. i considered it on the weekend but decided to go for the other one i am picking up this weekend. purely because i didnt want to go through the pain of putting a kit on and having it painted. otherwise a great car and great price from the ad i saw on autotrader
Which one did you go for, out of interest?
