Title: Will Two stock Scooby rear boxes flow enough for an RX7
Post by: antnicuk on March 05, 2006, 05:01:23 PM
In a last ditched attempt to make my FC a little quieter i have bought two scooby WRX rear silencers to fit in a hope that it will make it nice and quiet but still flow enough gases not reduce power too much.

The way i figure it is a stock scooby WRX has about 240 bhp, and could probably be increased to about 275 bhp still retaining the stock back box but loosing the cat and filter etc.  My FC has a 3" pipe from the turbo and then splts in to two 2/14 inch pipes to 2 silencers,  well i call them silencers but they dont actually do much silencing.......

So,  if i fit TWO scooby silencers to my car they should flow 500 bhp??? which is what i need.   Will this work? what do you lot think?????

They should fit quite well as they have twin exit pipes (UK Model) and are in the middle of the silencer, there is loads of room under the car as the stock mazda boxes are huge.

TBH, I think you are better off making up a couple of removeable bungs.  Similar in style to what comes with the NUR spec but with a few major changes.
1) The tube section needs to be closed at the end
2) drill holes in the tube section (enough holes to make up the total area of the stock exhaust tail)

This will tak ea lot of the sting out of it noise wise without reducing power too badly, with the added bonous that you can remove them as when required :)

depends on what they are stuffed with, heat may be the biggest problem, if its a wire wool type you may be ok

It may be worth while posting on a Scooby forum to see what they think.  I have the Apexi active silencer bung which works a treat.

they are more difficult to fit as the exit pipes arent arnt in the middle and they are a lot harder to find,  i have been looking for a while,  they are often knackered.  These scooby boxes are virtually new as they were taken off scoobys at the dealer when people wanted aftermarket stuff from new.
