Well thats AWD and active YAW for you I guess !
Yeah I can do that, but not at the stage where Id like to attempt it on a road yet. Still need a few more practices where it doesnt matter if I spin.
It looks more dramatic in an FD as the slip angle is much larger, but it wouldnt be going round as fast.
Cheers

where do you practice, cos i want to learn to drift.
or do u have any tips,
i spun out once and crashed in the rain
Just watched the vid again, and it doesnt actually oversteer at all! It just all sort of understeers at the same level of slip front to rear.
Next drift event is the D1 Final at Silverstone, but its on the 12th which clashes with Santa Pod. Im entered though, so I will be at Silverstone.
Im not sure if practice days will continue after the final round. As and when they happen (normally at airfields) I post up on here, but so far people dont really come out to play! Its normally a weekday though, which is a pain.
Cheers

Tips:
Dont practice on the road would be a good start unless you are really confident in what your doing.
I prefer the dry to the wet as its more consistent but it is more brutal on the tyres!!!
I find clutch kicking is the best method to get it sideways, unless you can slightly turn in on the brakes and then power over but this tends to need lots of room and sweeping bends.
Applying opposite lock - I normally let go of the steering wheel as it goes sideways and it will wind the lock on itself. The hard part is catching it at the right point but I find it pretty easy telling when and the just make small adjustments from there. The difficult part would be winding the lock off as it straightens and not getting a tank slapper effect back the other way. Cant really help on this, I just kinda seem to do it.
Best thing to do is get along to a practice day and play around really.

Cheers for the info, do u know if there are any practice drift clubs in the berkshire area?
might be good to find a large quite car park just to get the feel of losing traction.
cheers
You\'ve a 7, and you aren\'t used to the feeling of losing traction...??? *stunned*
well i have a couple of times, but not that long ago it was raining and i came off a roundabout in 2nd gear, accelerated, the 7 started to slide then the next thing i know im doing a 360 and crashed, so now im a bit nervous and take it easy going round corners as im not sure how far to push it cos i dont wanna spin out again.
Oh yes, I know that one...
A while ago, I stepped the back out on purpose on a lovely wide (5 lanes) bit of wet road at about 30, for a giggle. span twice, and went off the road between a sign and a lamp-post.
Very shaky and very wobbly moment, and still a bit anxious in the wet...
OJ
yeah, i was suprised how easy the back end came out in the rain. my front bumper is still a mess, just needs spraying now
Try my westfield. The combination of tyres designed for a heavier car (Bridgestone S03s, very stiff sidewall), a viscous LSD, a few setup issues I need to resolve once the new engine is bedded in and a 600kg car with over 200HP makes for interesting wet antics. Luckily its very catchable so the few times its occurred I have carried on as if it was meant to happen. I am planning to upgrade to A021s as my winter tyre as these are renowned for there progressive action and tolerate enormous slip angles. Perfect when you want to go sideways everywhere.
I did try that sort of a roundabout antic in the dry at le mans last year. Got about 1 lap in then snapped sideways. Stopped instantly, which was handy, although did scatter the pissed brits who were egging me on a bit.
However the driver in that video is either
a) very very skilled
b) has a racelogic in there
And probably has an adjustable diff bias. Would love to have seen how he got back off the roundabout though :-)
apparently he\'s still there... bit of a pain during rush hour.
lol,
we will have to wait till he runs out of fuel
LOL,
I hear he\'s aiding traffic flow, sort of acting like a revolving door :rollin
Bill, if you think the S-03\'s have a hard sidewall, dont try the S-02\'s. They are even worse.
Dan
It\'s all relative. An FD weights 2.2 times as much as the westy, so can sqidge them that bit more.
But 200HP goes an awful long way in a little car :-)
My boss let me play in his caterham hill climber which has been dynoed at 375bhp and that usually wieghs in at 875kg. That is equipped with a plug to start it ( getting rid of the battery) and a 1.5 ltr fuel tank ( just enough for one run) and just one carbon seat with a completly fibre glass shell. How on earth did you get your westy to wiegh so little? My boss will be very anxious to know!!
That must be the heaviest caterham around. Most are around 550Kg, the superlights are 460kg and the bike engined ones are nudging the 400kg mark.
Mind you 375BHP in a caterham is very rare so suspect a very heavy engine and transmission. Seems an odd combo for a hill climber
Are you sure its a caterham?
It\'s a Vauxhall 2.0 16V. He has had as much steel replaced by Ali as poss
A NA XE will never reach 375HP. 275 is more believable. 375 would be a turbo. Very rare in a se7en
A road legal XE engined Caterham can easily be gotten down to 500kgs before you start getting expensive. If your bosses car was 875lbs and 275HP then that would be feasible.
Replacing steel? Caterhams are mostly ally to begin with, except the engine, but there is an ally block for the deep pocketed
All I know is that he spent an absolute mint on it and very rarely goes to meets in his winnie bago
:wave
Let see him do it in the dry!!!
